He is probably one of the only people that is insulated enough to do so as well and in my mind that is pretty sad. If you are unaware of what cancel culture is I am happy for you because the entire concept behind it is pretty horrible. The idea is that if someone says or does something that a particular group considers "wrong" or "offensive" the mob of like-minded Twitter users or other social media will do everything in their power to financially and professionally ruin the "offender."
source
This will normally happen to people or groups with conservative viewpoints and the first person I recall it fully happening to was Roseanne where she made a rather funny comment comparing some Obama administrator as looking like one of the Planet of the Apes monkey doctors (she did kind of look like that) and since that woman was biracial Roseanne was dubbed a racist, fascist, bigot and the online mob of probably mostly millennials pressured her network into cancelling her. It was, at the time, one of the most popular shows on that particular network and was making them a lot of money. They attempted to continue the show without her but it was unsurprisingly, a flop without Roseanne.
This has happened to multiple other people and they tend to be people with conservative viewpoints. This much is obvious because someone liberal will do exactly the same thing as a conservative and nothing happens to them. One of the prime examples being people losing their jobs for having done "blackface" in the past but then it turns out some liberal heroes like Justin Trudeau (Canada's pretty-boy Prime Minister), Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon have done the same thing but nothing happens to them. The outrage mob is a farce because they aren't outraged at the act, they are targeting certain types of people.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with blackface costumes unless you are attempting to present whoever or whatever it is as being inferior or stupid without reason. Jimmy Kimmel actually did try to make the person he was pretending to be look like an idiot but that was also ok because despite being one of the best basketball players of all time, Karl Malone is never going to be accused of being scholarly.

Jimmy Fallon was portraying Chris Rock; a person who is his friend and gave him the ok to portray him in this way.
Therefore I don't think any of these people should be in trouble for this but it is just kind of funny and sad to me that the cancel culture people will pretend that the action is the problem, when it is actually the political leanings of the person that they are actually after.
Pewdiepie and many other people who use "big brain time" realize this and feel as though cancel culture is stupid. He believe as I do in that if you don't like something or it upsets you, you can simply choose to not watch it but to attempt to cause another person professional ruin because they said something you disagree with is another can of worms altogether.
Pewdiepie is by far the most popular Youtuber of all time and there is nothing that anyone can do to silence him... believe me, there are multiple activist groups that have tried to do so simply because he is bigger, better, and far more popular than a vast majority of many large media orgnaizations with hundreds of employees. One cancel attempt was made to try to take him down with thousands of individuals and even several media outlets including The Wall Street Journal. This failed terribly and ended with bad press for WSJ. Pewdiepie is basically untouchable as far as cancel culture is concerned and he is standing up for other Youtubers despite the fact that he doesn't really like them.
Except for Jake Paul :)

This video is long but it is kind of refreshing to see Pewds talk about something that isn't completely ridiculous for a change and since he is one of the only people on the planet with enough clout to talk about the openly that isn't affiliated with Fox news, it is very welcome to see this happening. I am sure Felix would much rather be getting paid tens of thousands of dollars to play the latest videogames but instead he is doing something that I think needs to be addressed.
The online outrage groups who I can all but guarantee consist entirely of millenials and very left-leaning celebrities is insane and it is even more insane that industries bow down to them. It is fantastic to see that the world's most popular vlogger is on the side that I consider to be the correct one here.
What do you think?
cancel culture is just dumb. I watched a bit of the video that Pewds was commentating over and the people who are pro cancel culture are so full of crap. Plus the hypocrisy of it all isn't even addressed... like about the blackface dbl standard and what not.

I think that he is fed up because they are cancelling a lot of youtubers who he is either friends with or sympathies with. I think he is probably a genuinely nice guy who accidentally has a ton of power that he doesn't even abuse aside from trying to sell sugar-free energy drinks and really expensive gaming chairs.

i haven't watched him very much. I do have a look at LWIAY every now and then just to try to stay up to speed with the latest meme formats. I actually tried to buy some of that energy drink powder but it is very expensive. G-Fuel i think it was called.

is Pewdiepie getting older? I think the fact that he is tackling more serious issues is a pretty good sign that this is the case. I don't look at his videos as often anymore and I heard rumors that he is only doing 3 a week now. He's been at it a while though so the slowdown is acceptable.

I am happy that Felix is taking this on because as you said, he is one of the few people that can do so that doesn't need to be worried about any sort of blowback. He might have more sway than any media company in the world actually. 100 million subscribers... i don't think any MSM has anything near these numbers.

he ended up issuing an apology for this video, but it was a fake apology where he was putting eye drops in his eyes... it was hilarious and all he did was mock these people more. He later issued an apology for the apology and it was more of the same. Dude is untouchable.

I actually wasn't aware of cancel culture. felt good that pewdiepie is addressing it openly. that's how one should use their power on social media.

well i think it is a purely American thing at the moment. Although I think international people join in just because social networks are so all encompassing
