Renovation

If living together for the first time was not hard enough the bungalow we own needed and still needs a lot of work done.

Every room needed re-wiring and re-plastering. We had no heating no hot water for over a month.

As all the rooms had to be knocked about we took the decision to also knock out an old chimney to give more space in the living room.

Every room was a mess so our next major decision, whilst every thing was chaos, was to replace all the windows. Could it get more stressful?

Sleeping on a mattress on the floor with Wheels surgery looming made for an uneasy month full of arguments, lack of sleep and aching joints.

Luckily, now we have windows, heating and hot water which has improved things considerably. We still only have floor boards and there is no matching furniture but these things are material compared to what came before. It is nice to take some time out before taking on any more new projects.

Spending some quality time with each other was needed and it is important not to lose sight of the small important things that keep relationships healthy whilst going through rough patches. It's easy to get bogged down with stress and forget to chill out.

I will at some point explain Wheels surgery and the aftermath of it which nearly destroyed us but today I will finish on a positive. If things are worth fighting for fight for them...it is too easy to give up.
