I run a sweatshop and feed my workers garbage ;-)

The Daily Rations

The Filthy Factory

The Miserable Worker

All joking aside. . .

As you've probably figured out, I'm into vermicomposting, or actively managing a colony of worms to eat garbage and produce awesome fertilizer. My wife and I strive to "eat clean", which means a lot of fruit and vegetable scraps are left after every meal. We also enjoy our 100% Kona Coffee, and spent coffee grinds are like crack-cocaine to these worms. I started about 3 months ago, combining this worm bin with free worms from the commercial-scale vermicomposter at my daughters' elementary school. They happily eat all the scraps and reproduce like mad, and once I get the stack to 4 trays, I'll be able to harvest some black gold to feed to my tomato plants and avocado trees. It's nice to watch nature's elegant cycle in action and see big returns on a small effort.

love this!

Thanks, I've got plenty of good worm stories in the pipeline!

Funny catchy title! compliments! I'm sure it's a good idea please elaborate on the benefits and whether or not it also grosses you or others out. Cool and Nast at the same time!

Thanks, I'll have plenty of follow up posts on the ins and outs of vermicomposting. I'm still a bit of an amateur, so I get to learn with the community.

After I read the title I was a bit confused. After reading the rest i can breathe a sigh of relief :) Please take good care of your crew! :)

Indeed, I think my crew and I have a pretty good working relationship, I'll keep them healthy and happy!
