Spring Preparation|Out In The Garden

in life •  7 years ago

It is still 26 days before Spring but it would be Spring before we know it. I can't tire myself out and I am avoiding being expose to dust and stuff so I've been out working in the garden preparing for Spring little by little. It is often me, or me and mom if she gets the time too.

Started cleaning up with the dried leaves on plants and pulling off some dead plants. Also did an unexpected digging with our potted sweet potatoes last week. We planted some for consuming the young leaves but now we have the root crops too.

As I get done working on the potted plants, I was glad I didn't get on the grape vine as there's a lot of hanging dried out leaves from the trellis as our feathered visitor is back. The dove had chosen our grape vine last year and made a nest. We left the nest untouched as my dad said these birds would come back and reuse the nest. And they did come back.

Mama dove was back reusing the nest from last year.

Also adding that surprisingly the bird seems to be comfortable and not minding us at all while we do our gardening stuff. But I do wonder at times how is it sitting in a nest with a human doing some gardening and hummingbirds chasing one another specially with our resident hummingbird which at one time I spotted perched facing the dove face to face.

I used to sit just under the nest and smell the lavender or admire the beautiful pink flowers of the New Zealand tee trea. And that is how I found out the dove is back as I happen to look up one time with it looking back at me.

Let's have a closer look at well at the other mentioned beauty shall we? Also a way to beautifully end this short Steemit Spring garden preparation post.

And that ends there. Looking forward for Spring with the blossoming of Jacaranda trees. I am also planning to plant more flowering plants such as snapdragon and petunias. Until next time. 😉
