Not all dance Mom's are like the crazy ones you see on the TV Show Dance Moms. On the whole we are normal parents who are supporting our kids in their chose of sports. My Daughter started dancing when she a little over 3 years old. She loved to move and wiggle so we figured dance was good to try. Well, 11 years later she is still dancing across the stage! Me being the creative type I am I decided to make her a special gift. We went to the store and picked out a jacket so I could do some embroidery on it. The idea I had has become what we call a walking resume'. The dancing Daughter is now the proud owner of a jacket that has all of her dance accomplishments on it. The idea behind the jacket was she should be proud of everything she has done. When I started putting everything on the back of the jacket I realized what this Dance Mom has done. Driven hours to practice, master classes and performances. Also, spent hours upon hours sitting while she was in practice. Yes, some times I do go run errands. But on the whole I spend a lot of time listening to what is happening on the other side of the wall. And I wouldn't trade it for anything! I have had the privilege to watch her turn into this amazing dancer that I see dancing across the stage with a fantastic smile on her face. The jacket has also become kind of a autograph book. She has her friends and teachers sign the sleeves. She has fun looking to see who has signed creatively. Of course she has some favorites on there. Once the back gets full I will start putting things on the front of the jacket. And when the sleeves are full of signatures she can have people sign the pockets. This will be something she can keep with her forever. When she is dancing professionally she can look back at all the hard work she did to get where she is. Seeing it all solid in front of you gives you a wow feeling of what all she has accomplished so far. Please share anything your kids may have like this. Would love to hear about other creative people out there.
