As you know, iOS and Android couldn't be more different. Here are ten things I think Apple is doing better than Google.
The Internet is filled with people who fight each other about why one is better than the other. For some people it's the costs and for other it's the customization and software features. There are many people who want to say why they prefer one over the other, thats why I want to say what one system does better than the other.
Security and privacy
We all know that every company collects data from user who use their products, but Apple does a really good job of keeping the collected data as anonymous as possible. For example, Apple didn't want to create a backdoor into iOS for getting passwords and keeping the iPhone from erasing itself after 10 incorrect attempts to unlock the phone as the FBI wanted in early 2016. Apples iOS is secure in any way that even the FBI needs a backdoor because the can't get in that easily.
When we take look at permissions, iOS and Android do a good job, but on iOS it's more descriptive than on Android. On Android the permission request is bundled and doesn't tell much about what the app wants to do.
Updates
iOS and Android handly update very different. Android only provides direct update to their own phone and the other companies as Samsung have to modify Android first and that keeps the update holding back for a long time. But on iOS, the updates are available for everyone at the same time.
Support
Apples support is legendary. When you have a problem with your iPhone you can just walk into an Apple store and have it taken care of because of AppleCare. Because Android phones come from so many different companies, there is no equivalent on the Android side. Samsung is expanding a retail presence in the west, but it's not even close to the AppleCare experience. One company is in charge of everything on an iPhone and it offers better support. This becomes an important factor when you're buying a phone that costs close to $1,000.
Junk Apps
If you buy an iPhone from any phone carrier you won't have to delete all the junk apps. On the other hand there is Android, where you have to delete all the junk apps first. As Google has no say on how Samsung has to build their softare outsite of the things required to use Google Play. That means that Samsung and a phone carrier can make deals that leave you with tons of junk on your phone you don't want to use. It's much easier to never use these apps but you have to ignore them daily. The only thing you can do is to delete these apps and other junk that can take up to more than one hour.
The speed of iOS
The new A11 Bionic chip inside the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X blows away any Android phone.
In Geekbench 4 the A11 chip has an single core score of 4.267 and a multi core score of 10.415 Points. Thats nearly the double of the Galaxy S8 scores. In addition to that, iOS has to run only on a hand full of devices and can be more precisely performance programmed than Android that has to run on so many devices that are on the market.
The ecosystem
Apples ecosystem can not be beaten in any way. Transfer data easly between all devices via AirDrop. Just select the recipient iOS device and the data is send immediately. iOS and macOS are working so moothly together that any other platform looks bad. With AirPlay you can stream your devices screen onto your Apple TV and show your family easily the pictures you took while you where in your vacation.
Worth more when you resell
The iPhone holds its value better than an Android phone. If you sell your one-year-old or two-year-old Android smartphone, even a flagship device, you will often get much less than you paid. When you sell an older iPhone, it is easy to find offers of almost double the value of an Android phone that came out at the same time.
Best phone camera
Apple’s flagship takes more vibrant photos with more vivid and more natural-looking colors. It's especially excelled in sunlight, where the other phones washed out some images. Compared to other portait modes on the market, the iPhones portait mode looks way more natural. Even the low light performance is very good compared to the most phone cameras out there.
Earlier releases of new apps and better looking apps
When it comes to launching a brand-new app, many developers still prioritise Apple's App Store. Because on average, the Android version of an app contains around 38 percent more code to achieve the same functionality. That means the average Android app takes about 28 percent longer to develop than iOS. The app Prisma had its premiere on iPhone two month before it arrived on Android.
