Being a College Professor ... One of the best Jobs in the World

Good to everyone Steemit community, in this time I will speak about my experience as a college professor at the ''UDO College'' in Anzoategui Venezuela. I want to tell you about my experience about this work, which is in my country one of the lowest paid, is one of the most rewarding, I want to share my day to day, explaining, working, and above all, teaching part of my knowledge to hungry kids of knowledge. I hope you like this post, I will do it with a lot of love for you.

About my history...

My history begins not since I graduated as an architect in 2015, I consider that for a while studying architecture at the same university I already had that vocation to teach, within my university there is a scholarship program called ''Preparadurías" Where, if you were a good student, you had good grades, you could be a teacher's assistant, and explain to other students about the class, if they didn't understand. Within the career of architecture, in addition to the theoretical subjects, we find a subject called '' Architectural Composition Workshop '' or as we all commonly call it '' Design ''. This subject is the branch of the career, is where students create, model, and design a building adapting to the teachings of the teacher depending on that semester and is a subject that is seen throughout the career, are 8 designs, and without those sibjects you can't pass to 9th and 10th grade thesis, in my case I was a design 2 teacher's assistant (2nd semester) since I was in 3rd semester, supported the teacher with the exercises, and helped others to create, improve, and evolve his design. In addition to helping them, it also helped me to always be full of ideas in the way I design, I always saw it that way, as a reciprocal relationship, among students, of course, but in the future I consider him as a teacher and student. Once graduated in December 2015, it was not enough to start January and the new semester to start as a professor at the university.

Elaboration of the Project of Degree, or as they call it .. '' Thesis 1 ''...

That's right, my first subject in the faculty that I taught wasn't Design, in fact I just went in, where I needed more faculty was in the area of methodology, and not the methodology of 4th, where they explain that it is an objective, that is a chapter, and how you do a methodological project, in this case I went directly to advise the students in their thesis, before moving to the 10th with their tutors, this subject talks about advising the approach that gives the student with respect to his project, and how, by chapter I can channel it to improve the methodological part. Yes, it is true that I taught methodology but it was a class where the terms have to be clear, where most of the subject focuses on correcting the students in their subjects. The truth although I didn’t get much attention at the beginning, I took it as an apprenticeship, because even though I knew the theory, I felt somewhat distrustful in explaining it, as every first-timer I guess, hahaha. Today, I continue teaching, and I feel that I was in the right place, in the right place, because studying both the methodology to support the class, and my students, has helped me to understand, and to manage some things of much better, in a more correct, structured, orderly, and above all, objective way. I can give you the certainty, that once you understand the methodology and how to apply it, it is not as boring as it seems, and above all, when knowing the rules, you can find a way to improve your project, and to see it as dynamic as possible. Currently, every semester I see around 15 students, which translates to 15 theses per semester, it is a super-exhausting job, because I have to read so many thesis, I am exhausted, however there are very satisfying moments like when the boys present the Thesis and you know that you were there to help them and that will be reflected in the faculty with the name of the student and yours as a tutor, then I will show you one of my closest experiences.

Her name is Emily, and she has just presented her thesis this week, a project in which I was tutor, her project is called '' Modular and Sustainable Architectural Proposal for the Integral Attention of People with Autistic Spectrum Disorder in Guanta Municipality, Anzoátegui State. Venezuela''. And I was delighted to be part of this design process, how modular elements were organizing a building, of rapid handling, transportation, and construction, for children with this syndrome. It really was a very nice thesis, and well worked. However, in this post I want to teach you that moment that it feels like graduating a student and being able to tell her that her project was '' Approved ''

In the faculty, when a student graduates it is customary to stick a '' tirro '' or '' adhesive tape '' throughout the body and a special on the forehead that says '' Architect ''. We do it in celebration mode, and because we use a lot of this material throughout our life in the race, therefore it is logical that we use it to celebrate. Truly, that moment of our student life and the beginning of our life as a professional is very rewarding, here I show you a little more of this day.

This is another image of another of my students thesis that they presented twice. They decided to present the same day one after the other, and it was also a very pleasant and happy day both for them and for me, I loved being part of their training, and now I can say that I have some excellent colleagues!

And none of this is also possible, if the juries of my thesis had not corrected them. The university is a stage where we all support each other so that students grow every day, and I am 100% sure that what moves us to be university professors, is the vocation, the passion to teach, and to continue training professionals for the future of our country.

Architectural Composition Workshop II, or Design 4...

After two semesters, approximately one year. I entered to give another subject, this time called '' Design 4 ''. This subject is given in the 4th semester, and it is the study of high population centers, and urban designs. It is in this matter where the boys begin to change scale, and understand that the architect has to be an urbanist for excellence. It is in this semester, where they change their perspective, although last semester single-family homes were designed for 3 4 people, a ''house'' with a very personal scale, in this semester students design shopping centers, sports centers, cultural centers , for a capacity of 400, 500, 600 people, then the scale changes them completely, and the way it is designed is not as private as they were used to be. The truth is in this design and the next where it is understood a little more than architecture, and where it has to be directed.

The best of all this work, is that while you teach, you transfer knowledge acquired in your course as a student, you teach them not to fall into the same mistakes as you, and while you teach them, you can see their faces of how the path lights up to create. This matter is the most important of all, because it is where you create, build and design, creativity you have to have 100% if you want to create a project, dynamic, functional. and spatially rich. But not everything is student work, as a teacher I have the obligation to keep them hungry for knowledge, therefore the dynamism in the class is very important.

The important thing in each semester, is to keep curiosity always to the limit, that they feel interested in continuing to acquire knowledge, and what has helped me at least in my case, is to break a bit the barrier that separates the teacher from the student, Being young, I can talk to them in a way that they can have more confidence with me, and that they really do not feel intimidated by the teacher, if they feel hesitant, they actually ask without hesitation, and the results have been very satisfactory, I love them the results that my students have given me. In the end they know that in addition to their teacher, I was a friend who supported them and will support them on every step they have in their university life, and they know that there is nothing more rewarding to see how their dream dreams have come true.

There is no doubt that being a university professor is one of the most rewarding and beautiful jobs in the world, and I hope after having read my perspective, you can agree with me, without any doubt.
