It is difficult understanding some people

Ever since joining steemit last year, I was so excited and shared news of the platform with my friends and the opportunity and possibility it presents. They showed no interest and saw it as just one of the many fake things going on online. Being one who likes to explore everything especially when I have nothing to lose decided to try it out. They did not buy the whole thing and so did not join.

Just the other day, I made my first actual withdrawal and converted it to my local fiat. It was then that one of my friends bought the whole idea and realized that it was all true and not fake like he had thought. Despite informing one of my friends of this reality and urging him to join the platform too, he was still hesistant and just asked me to give him a portion of the proceedings I made from my withdrawal with him instead.

Here I was trying to teach my friend how to go fishing for his own fish but he preferred just sitting down and sharing in my fish. I told him I wanted him to become his own fisher but he told me he preferred eating from a fisherman. This whole incident taught me a life lesson. It is something that we will find it hard to believe but it is all true.

In life, there are people who will prefer to remain dependent on others for their daily needs. Even when they have the chance to be their own man, they will let it go and prefer to run to others everytime they need help. They refuse to exploit opportunities because they are comfortable where they are and sometimes it is just a deliberate choice to be lazy. Why will you like to eat fish but don't want to fish? It shows no ambition at all and no desire to help yourself grow.

Well, you can not force others to help themselves. You can only share the open opportunities and whatever decision they make is their choice and choice alone and all you can do is respect their decision.

To which i reply,

Amen brother.

Its horrible in America...the largest welfare state in the world. Truly saddening and maddening.

We can only hope and pray for change brother. It is really terrible to see what is happening in our World

True... some people are very afraid to leave their comfort zone. Some people want guarantees so not willing to take any risks in life. And some of them are considering themselves as “smart” and try to profit from someone elses efforts.

You did your part to tell people about possible opportunities. Even if you want so badly, you cannot make their choice. Just leave them be. It is up to them now :)

Thanks @lion200 for this contribution.
I just don't get it at times. Well, I am just happy I shared the opportunity.

Yeah that’s enough right? Be careful for people who try to use you ;)

I sure will but I don't think that's what my friend is doing though. But I will sure keep my eyes open.
Thanks for the concern.
I really appreciate it.

It's very true what they say, you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot force it to drink.

Exactly...
