Eid al Adha 2017
The feast of Eid al-Adha or commonly called the Day of Sacrifice because it is identical with the sacrifice of the sacrificial animal celebrated by the Muslims on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah.
In the Christian calendar, this year's Eid al-Adha celebration is celebrated on Friday, September 1, 2017.
The celebration of Eid al-Adha begins with the story of Prophet Ibrahim who at that time sacrificed his pet animals namely sheep, cattle, and camels with a large number.
But the prophet Ibrahim felt that it was not much, even he promised himself that he would be willing to slaughter his own son if blessed with a child.
This oath is spoken because his wife at the time, Sarah, has not even had a son despite having long married to Ibrahim.
Then Ibrahim was ordered to marry Siti Hajar. That is the beginning of Eid al-Adha's history.
Not long after marriage with Hajar, then he was blessed with a son named Ishmael.
Until one night, the prophet Ibrahim dreamed of getting a command from God to fulfill his nadzarnya ie slaughtering his son.
Although I was confused, Ibrahim finally obeyed. Ismail who was then aged 7 years sincerely accept it.
However, the knife that was about to be used to slaughter Ismail was not strong enough to slaughter it. Then congratulations Ishmael.
In some narrations, it is also mentioned that God replaced Ismail with a sheep until finally the sacrificial commands arose on Eid al-Adha with sheep or other sacrificial animals. Therefore Eid al-Adha is often referred to as the Day of Sacrifice or Sacrifice because it is identical with the slaughter of sacrificial animals.
