The scenic view of Camotes is splendid. It is one of the nearest and cheapest place from Cebu island to spend with your loved ones. It measures 236.36 km and east of Cebu, so it is very convenient for us to go there any time we want. It takes 2-3 hours by fast craft boat/ship. Except that you wouldn't have to spend too much when in the island.
I've been there twice with my friends and the experience is always unforgettable. The people were undeniably kind and very welcoming to their visitors. They give space during peak season when resorts and hotels are unavailable, they even interact with them nicely and gives information to where to go. No need to worry about transportation, you can rent a motorbike w/a driver or maybe drive it for yourself for just P250-500/day depends on negotiation.
Accomodation
On my first visit, it was very spontaneous and out of the blue kind of trip. Upon arriving on the island, we ask the motorbike driver to look for a cheap room for 2 and luckily we were able to find one for just P600 for 1 night and 2 days stay. It is a single house with 2 rooms, we rented out one room. The host family was very helpful and accommodating, the mother baked scrumptious banana cake for us :). Thus, no need to worry about accommodation, you can also bring tents just to be sure if you planned to go there during peak season or maybe plan the trip a week or 2 weeks before to reserve resort hotels without any hassle.
Sightseeing
You don't have to worry about beaches when in the island, you are surrounded by it.
Thus, I would suggest to go to spring, caves, waterfalls or rivers if you may. The island is very rich in nature and there are still undiscovered places that you may explore. Unluckily, I haven't taken photos of us on my second visit when we went to the spring and newly opened caves. These are the famous places I've been to so far: lake Danao, Buho Rock, Timubo Cave, Paraiso Cave, San Francisco Beach, Cueva de Gracia and Busay spring. There are still a lot of places you may visit other than these.
Hence, places that I've been to were exhilarating. From clear blue sea to magical spring and caves, are the things that you may look forward to when visiting the place. You may also enjoy different activities on the island, especially in Lake Danao where you can do kayaking, horse riding and I've heard they are constructing for ziplines. Here are some of the pictures taken during my trip to the island.
I hope you may visit the place and have a short getaway from the stressful living in the city and at work. Truly, you may enjoy the nature itself and maybe will find yourself going back to the same place.
Please share your experience in Camotes Island if you've been there as well. I would love to read your story. Thanks :)
God Speed!
