There is always a lot of incompetence in government, but it never reaches the level of government run by people who are anti-government.
Take this whole "stimulus payment" fiasco.
Okay, if you're going to give corporations approximately $15,000 for every American adult, might as well give less than 10% of that amount to the people themselves, presumably to spend buying things from the corporations. But why does it have to be so incompetent?
How hard would it be to simply have a site that has everyone put in their banking information or address for a check, then cross reference that against previous tax returns, address on file, credit reports, etc. the way PayPal does when creating an account, or any number of financial service providers?
Sending money off old information, even when the recipient knows they need to update the information, is just stupid. Ask people for the info as the norm, instead of thinking you know from 2 years ago as the norm, then having people have to work it out to change things after you've already tried to pay them.
Anyway, just vented. This is just the latest nonsense. Really there are much higher degrees and consequences to government incompetence right now, so this one is just "I haven't had breakfast but opened a letter from the IRS" level of annoyance.
Have a good day
