Last week, I announced I was exclusively posting my first book here on Steemit. Check out the introduction here and previous chapters here:

(Information Consumption: A Short Guide To Cutting Out Distractions, Saving More Time And Becoming More Productive )

“There are a lot of information out there. To the degree that your life changes, it is made useful or useless- Gartel”

Take Action

“Done is better than perfect.”

This chapter is perhaps the most important part of this book. It would be saddening if after spending precious time reading through this book, you dump it without implementing its tips.

During my college days, I was voraciously consuming life-changing information without making use of them. I was doing nothing about my goals and it put a strain on me. And then I started making little steps. Replacing my negative actions with positive cues and actions. Things became better. I’m still proud to be an infovore. The difference now is that I’m now a productive infovore.

Tell yourself this when the urge to dive in the Internet click-hole is strong:

“I either suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret. I don’t want more regret”

Deal?

Here are some additional tips:

1 Become an idea machine:
If you’re probably not in a position to implement the stuffs you read every day, you can still do something life-changing. Become an idea machine. I got this tip from James Altucher and implementing it has been one of the best decisions I make daily.

How can you become an idea machine?

Simply write out ideas you’ve been inspired by what you read every day. Have a journal or note app and write down 10 ideas you have every day.

What would you do with these ideas?

You can decide to:
i. Leave them. Just continue building your idea muscle daily and when that moment comes when you need a life-saving idea to crop up. You would be sure your well-built idea muscles won’t let you down.

ii. Combine two or more ideas to form a great idea.

iii. Send them to people. You could decide to write 10 ways your company could become better. Or how your side-hustle could earn more revenue. Don’t just keep it. Send it to the concerned party. Do this regularly and you would be surprised how fast you become the go-to problem solver.

Tool:
Evernote, MS OneNote, Inbuilt mobile note apps or just your pen(cil) and paper.

2 Create a productivity system and stick to it.
You could even adapt a popular productivity technique to suit your personal schedule. I’m a fan of the Pomodoro technique. You could also use the GTD system by Allen, the Pareto 80/20 rule or Laura’s 168 hours system.

Just Do It.

Tools:
FocusBooster app (Pomodoro); Remember the Milk and OmniFocus apps (GTD); Pen(cil) and Paper.

I have continued to "try" be the idea machine for quite a while. After that I stopped writing for more than a year. Now that I have started in Steemit I am suffering from lack of ideas and words are not coming out of me they used to before. Will have to start on the journey to be a idea machine again. James Altucher is right. The idea muscle atrophies and not practicing your art brings you to the same place where you started. Liked your initiative of book. Looking forward for the next chapter. Great going.

Good image. I used the same quote/image on my first post. :)
