Berapakah usiamu saat ini? Berapa banyak digunakan untuk tidur, bermain, belajar, bekerja, dan ritual ibadah? Manakah yang lebih banyak menghabiskan sisa usiamu? Cita-cita kita ini bahagia di dunia dan di akhirat. Lalu, apa yang sudah kita lakukan untuk meraih kebahagiaan itu?
Saudaraku, bagaimana seseorang bisa bahagia dengan dunianya, sementara harinya membinasakan bulan, bulannya membinasakan tahun, dan tahunnya membinasakan usia. Ia telah menyia-nyiakan usianya dengan melakukan perbuatan tak berguna. Tahu-tahu, ia telah menua, sesal yang tersisa, sementara waktu tak bisa diputar untuk kali kedua.
Al-Fudhail berkata, “Perbaikilah apa yang tersisa dari usiamu, maka dosa-dosamu yang telah lalu akan diampuni. Sesungguhnya jika kamu berbuat jelek pada sisa usiamu, maka kamu telah menghabiskan usiamu yang telah lalu dan yang tersisa.”
