Minneapolis Farmers Market (Farmers Market Challenge)

It's a windy one today here in Minneapolis, but that didn't stop us from making the 10 minute drive to the fringe of Downtown to check out the Minneapolis Farmers Market. "The Largest Open Air Market In The Midwest"

It is now open daily from 6-1:30pm so we might be going more frequently after this visit. The area itself is pretty large.

This is just one 'row' of about 8 or 10.

It boasts many different kinds of wares like home made jewelry, home made clothing, a few all natural pain relieving booths, a few all-natural, grass fed beef and pork booths, gourmet cheese stands, and many others. Then there are your typical state fair stands like mini donuts, corn on the cob, and popcorn. The produce selection was top notch. Lot's of different varieties of high quality produce, we would have needed a shopping cart if my eyes would have been footing the bill. I love the competition aspect of it though, there are so many produce stands that if one of them has higher prices than another, they will quickly lose a lot of business until they re-adjust their pricing. It's the free market at work benefiting everyone in the trade.

Now that we have a kid, getting out has been harder and harder to do. I feel like we are still living, but weekdays it's like, in bed by 9. Which means we really need to cherish our weekends. It was a great feeling to pack up the car and push the stroller around with my wife while getting some much needed fresh air and Vitamin D.

My wife about to buy some cinnamon roasted cashews

There was a really cool shirt vendor there and I had never seen a lot of his shirt designs before. Here are a few of my favorites. They all have a MN theme to them.

We LOVE our craft beer here!

Minnesota, equally, if not more gangster than Compton. Trust me, I would know, I'm Norwegian.

The produce selection is massive, but the varieties of flowers might be even bigger. I wish we would have had more room to carry stuff because everything was so beautiful. My wife has a thing for cacti, so we bought one. It was small enough to carry and we crossed off 'a plant' from our list, lol.

They also had live music which upped the ambiance factor. A balloon artist was around to entertain the little ones too.

All in all, I'd say we came away with some really high quality goods and it was so nice to get out and enjoy a beautiful Saturday. Even better was supporting local businesses and voting with our dollars. I also noticed a lot of people reading my taxation is theft shirt. So maybe I planted some seeds of my own today, too.

Me with our bounty.

Looking forward to seeing what other Steemians have to show for their local Farmers Market. Thanks for the initiative @ericvancewalton

I played music at this farmers market a few weeks ago, good time!

Nice! I am not sure what band played yesterday, but they sounded pretty good! Judging by your name and that you played here recently, I assume you're a local. @timcliff is setting up a meet and greet kind of thing for MN Steemians, check out the link and try to make it if you can! https://steemit.com/meetup/@timcliff/minneapolis-st-paul-steem-meetup-mark-your-calendars-saturday-july-15-7-00pm-cpt

Thanks for invite! Will do!

Hi. Not sure if you've seen it yet, but we are having a MSP meetup in July. Would be cool if you could make it :) Spread the word if you know of any other MN Steemains!

Oh, hell yeah. This is going to be sweet. I thought there were only like 3 or 4 others out there from MN. I hopped on that link and it looks like grand time. Count me/us in. I'll spread the word for sure and be sure to chat on the other thread. Thanks so much for letting me know :)

Love the shirts and the bounty! Voting with our dollars will change the world. Great post! Following and upvoted! Special thanks for @ericvancewalton for creating the challenge!
