Porfiry Korneevich Ivanov (also known as " Parshek " and "Winner of Nature, Teacher of the People, God of the Earth" ) was born in an area which I believe is now in the contested region in the east of Ukraine.
He too practiced resistance to the cold by walking barefoot and only in shorts year round. He had the opinion that "striving only to "good" (to warmth, satiety, etc.), a person gets "bad" (illness, death). In pursuit of greenhouse, comfortable conditions, a person left by nature, isolated from it." This philosophy is very similar to Naturism which values exposure (at least in the summer time).
Speaking from personal experience (while waiting for Abby ... the dog ... to finish her business in the middle of the night) I have stood topless in the cold of winter and the cold air was not that uncomfortable.
