There’s nothing so bad that it couldn’t be worse:

  Dear Steemit friends:

Today, while reading the Irish proverb that says:” There’s nothing so bad that it couldn’t be worse.” I remembered something that happened to me last Ramadan.

One day in Ramadan, I went to visit a member of my family in the ICU. It was a scorching hot day and there was a lot of traffic jam. I was so annoyed since I’m so weak against heat and worried that we’d be stuck in traffic till the end of the day. I started looking out of the window and thought about everything and nothing. I noticed a little girl who was looking at me, our gaze met she then smiled politely and waved at me. At first, I thought she was a kid playing outside but after looking at the paper she was holding with her tiny hands I read ‘Syrian Family’. A few minutes ago, I thought that nothing can be worse than what’s happening to me. (Going to a hospital which is 45 mins away from home to visit a family member who’s on the verge of death in a hot day while fasting and being stuck in traffic.) But now after seeing this little girl, I realized how much blessed and fortunate I am. This girl probably lost her entire family in war, and was forced to travel a thousand miles away from home and still tried to comfort me with her innocent smile. She did her best to console ‘me’ who was ungrateful and thankless while leading a rather luxurious life in her eyes. That little girl, taught me to be grateful no matter how little I have.

There’ll always be someone who has less than you have, and someone who’s suffering more than you are. Always be grateful for what you have, you never know what’ll happen next.
