TECHNOLOGY is just a part of a life, its not our life.

Way back 50 years ago, people around the globe didn’t have mobile phones yet, cameras used films and the internet wasn’t there yet for us. That was the era by which I am sure, we Filipinos can’t live in, why? It’s because Filipinos are born with mobile phones at their sides. Having mobile phones and the access to internet makes life easier and is also making the people addicted to it. We start to depend on it like we won’t be able to live without it.

Philippines is one of the top countries with the highest number of mobile phone owners. As an effect, Filipinos became addicted in taking pictures and most of these pictures’ subject is the one holding the camera. This kind of photography is called “selfie”. Though this not bad, too much dependency on this is not good either. Filipinos created this mindset wherein every moment of their lives, whether important or not, must be documentated. Right after waking up, we take selfies to announce to the world that we are already awake. At noon, we take pictures of our food and post in on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites for what? For them to know what we are eating? Isn’t it somewhat non-sense in a way? We document each moment of our life and brag it to the world and it’s like we are making social media our diary and making the whole planet our audience. We consider social media not just a part of our life, but as our life already, which is honestly not good. We feel uncomfortable whenever we can’t open our social media accounts even for just a day. Posting almost everything about us became a hobby like it’s just normal when we know that it’s not. What you post in sites like this will travel around the globe and can be seen by all types of people in just a click, if you are not bothered with that, I don’t know anymore what could bother you.

The way we use technology nowadays is wrong because it’s not us using technology, but the other way around. Mobile phones, camera, social media and such things were created by human so why are these things the one controlling us now? I hope that someday, the eyes of the so called “Millennials” will be open to realize that technology is just a part of our life and it’s not really our life.

I totally agree with you. I admit that I am also addicted to mobile phones, the technology. It's like I rely my life to it and without it, I feel lost and nothing. May this post make people realize how this technology ruined us. Yes it helps us but it also has its disadvantages. Nice thought @isaiahkenneth. God bless! :)

Yes I am also addicted, but yah there is really some disadvantages. Thank you😊
