Looking back in my Childhood Moments 🌈

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Childhood moments were indeed the best time of my life.

If I'd be given a chance to turn back time and go back in the past, I'd really love to go back in my precious childhood days.

Kids in my time mostly likes having fun in the outdoors then we got home very dirty with scratches on our knees =)

Here, I will share you a few things relating to my childhood =)

I was born in a simple family and I never had expensive toys and gadgets like most of the kids have today.  I had the Nintendo Game and Watch that my father gave as a gift on my 6th birthday but  nothing more. This is the Nintendo game that I had before.

I remember  Game A - when the fish moves only in single direction back and forth the 2 aquariums, so it's easy to play ,  while Game B is more challenging as multiple fishes move in random direction and whenever you miss out one fish,  the cat would hurriedly catch it and ran away. It was fun. =)

My father also taught me how to make my own paper plane and paper kite and then watch it fly with so much thrill and excitement.

I also enjoyed making paper boat and let it float in a bucket full of water or somewhere with flowing water after the rain.

The popping pods was also really awesome!  It's nice to watch them pop when you throw lots of them in the water.

I also enjoyed playing in the rain, fondly watching the rainbow and wondering what it's made of (I once believed it was a huge colorful cotton candy in the sky).

Making my own telephone made of milk cans was really amazing!

When the weather is good,  we would catch ladybugs/beatles,  spiders and dragonflies with my friends,  then we let them go and watch them with amazement.

I also love to ride my bicycle and play outdoor games with friends, like tag, hide and seek  and this game called "Tumba Lata" or "Tumbang Preso" in Filipino  where the player hits the  empty milk can using stone or slippers.

During fruit season, we would climb up the trees to pick some guavas or mangoes and this little sweet red berry called Aratelis or "Mansanitas" in Cebuano.

There's also a fruit tree called "Duhat" in our backyard, that has fruits  similar to blue berries, it's very sweet when ripe so there are many big fire ants guarding them, yet we still dare to climb lol.

I was also that kid eating sun flower seeds. =)

Of course, I have played the Yo-yo too!

Each time we go to the beach, I love collecting colorful stones, pebbles and seashells and later keep them in my closet like valuable treasures :-) Even until this time, I still  love collecting  seashells but not as many as before. I also like holding the shell to my ear and it's really fascinating to hear the sound of the waves from it.

I remember one time that my friends and I agreed to make our own tree house, we collected some coconut and banana leaves and some bamboo shafts,  but we were so small to do it up in the tree, and so we end up making our house of leaves under the tree =) The house we made is quite similar to this photo I found online.

I also have my share of moments sneaking chocolates before bed time =) . The Cloud 9 classic has been one of the oldest brand of chocolate in the Philippines by Jack n Jill. I still love these chocolates until this time.

If there's something that I wish to buy, I don't ask money to my parents, instead I like earning and saving my own money for it. I remember myself selling garlic flavored peanuts, cup cakes and Yema (it's a kind of sweet made of condensed milk with egg yolk) during break time in school.

We were allowed to do that in school before, even our teachers were selling goodies too. I used to keep the money I earn in my piggy bank. I don't like breaking my piggy bank when I need the money, so I'd patiently use a ruler to get the coins out.

There's still a lot more childhood experiences that I could share, I just don't think this little text box could fill them all =) Each time I think of these beautiful moments it makes my heart smile. Well I hope you all enjoyed having a short glimpse of my childhood moments too! You could probably relate to some of what I've shared here.  I wish everyone a great week! Cheers from Cebu!

Your childhood sounds a lot like mine. I grew up in the countryside without getting much money from my parents or expensive toys. I always found ways, like you, to use the things around to have fun such as building forts with tree branches and catching critters in the forest.

And rainbows are made of cotton candy, you weren't wrong. I touched one once when I was a child and it was delicious. I still sneak chocolate before bed, so I guess I haven't grown up yet. hehe

Cute photo of you and you sister at the end. I wonder if I could some old prints from my youth when I go back home.

Keep Steeming!!

Our childhood moments are evidence of things that money can't buy.

Cool! I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking rainbows are made of cotton candy and also proving that yourself. Come on! Let's go rainbow hunting! =)

Sweet tooths always love chocolates 😄

That would be nice if you could share some old photos when you find them in the future. It must be somewhere around in your home. I'll surely be looking forward to that post =)
