Its really obvious for anyone on the steem blockchain that its not the best content thats at the top of trending, its the people with the big bag of SP. New people coming on have no chance to build over time and become big like you can on youtube for instance, although still tricky but its still possible.
On steemit you only have to have some person with a lot SP that doesn't like your post for any reason and make basically disappear, usually by someone with a massive ego. How can it be that 10000 people have less power than just one rich person that could be just wanting to cause trouble.
Like @exyle said, steemit will diversify once smt's are launched and this should help a bit with drowning out those small minorities that bring nothing but there ego's to this community. I agree people who invest deserve perks but I don't believe it should be having power to make new people be put off from blogging and sharing there opinions and views because those minorities holding a lot of sp flag them for doing exactly what they do, blog.
The bigger steemit grows the better as then it will become less and less likley those few can have such a big impact and also stop being able to spread there false rubbish which some newbies fall for.
