In old cultures rituals, syntagm “regressus ad uterum” symbolically represented returning to the age of innocence or rebirth - a nonphisical rebirth that should transfer human being to a new level of existence.
In a great book of Mircea Eliade “Aspects of myth” there is a story about old ritual songs with the purpose of healing. In that songs, people were inviting Creator to create a world once again so that patient can be healed. Also, in some old cultures, patients were buried so that they can be born again in the womb of Mother Earth. This principle of returning to the origins served as a model for physiological and psychomedical techniques aimed to renew, heal and finally liberate.
In order to master things, we must get to know the origin of that things first. In the same way, we have to know and understand our origin, our beginning, if we want to master our lives. It is necessary to return to what we really are if we want to have happy, healthy and fulfilled life.
In some cultures, great attention is paid to a ritual of initiation which sometimes implies the rituals in which the adolescent is symbolically returned into an embryo so that he can be born again and become socially responsible and culturally awakened in a new life.
The goal of these and similar procedures is to heal the man from the pain of existing in time. This can imply reviving and understanding of past lives, burning sins, etc. In short, it is important to have a clean beginning. In this context, childhood is represented as paradise, the bliss of the beginning of the human being.
However, the era of childhood is never perfect. Sometimes is even very far from that. Sometimes, childhood leave consequences which can make adulthood very complicated. But that consequences can be removed if one decides to work hard on himself.
The child in us is maybe wounded, confused and frightened. That can be a source of all our dissatisfaction. If we take time to know that child better, if we offer it comfort and understanding, we are not only developing our self-awareness, but we are also taking responsibility for our lives.
Also, a child in us can sometimes be wiser, simpler and more stable than our adult versions. That child knows what it wants, it has an honest approach to life, it doesn't think that it’s less valuable because its look doesn’t fit in latest fashion standards or because its thoughts are different from most of other peoples thoughts.
We lose so many good things on our way to adulthood. Some of them we sell, some of them we hide so that we can gain the love of others easier. And that’s why we sometimes end up very far from what we really are. We become full of anger, ready to blame anyone who get in our way.
So, return to yourself, to your primary shape. Don’t let it be a process full of anger, guilt, and regret. Heal yourself from the pain of existing in time. Be kind to yourself. Have patience. Have courage. Hug that little girl/boy inside of yourself and never leave her/him alone again.
Take the responsibility. Love yourself.
Your story and photo are very interesting.
