HELLO EVERYONE,

Today i will talking about self improvement and self development. i got this topic from a friend of mine Sheila and funny enough i am currently reading a book by Chris Oyakhilome D.Sc., D.D.

In Nigeria for instance we are built in a society where we are restricted to our educational system. Our youth have been given the orientation that we have reach the peak the acceptable standard when they are are done with their University they stop improving of oneself. .

First and foremost, it will interest you to know that schooling or education isn't the end of learning but its just a scope or a system that it is built to expand your horizon and knowledge. Youth most times leave school waiting for the government to provide job for for them which indeed is the responsibility of the government but to a person who spends time to develop his or herself, he sees himself as a person who is meant to meet the need of the people and not vice-versa.

Self Development is a major discuss that cannot be overlooked. Self development doesn't just mean building yourself in the area of what you study. It involves your scope and other areas of life as well as areas that may not be your area of specialization.

Studying and Reading

Studying and reading are two different things one could use to improve oneself. Reading is an active process of constructing meanings of words. Reading could also be viewed as a cognitive process that involves decoding symbols to arrive at meaning.. So with reading we can improve ourselves in various areas. Reading enables us to be aware of things happening in our society. We may not be an expert in that area but with reading, we have a glimpse of what that area and can talk and defend ourselves when topics relating to that areas is made.

STUDYING on the other hand, is devoting of time and attention to gaining knowledge on a subject, especially by means of books. It is also of taking a good look or closer look in order to observe or read. This is where proper self development takes place. Outside education, we ought to take out time to development ourselves in other areas.

Skills Acquisition

This is one major tool that i love encouraging youths to get. Like i said, education isn't just a means to get a living, it is a means to improve our mind in what soever we do. What education is meant to do is to amplify our skills ( which could be natural or acquired).

Skill acquisition is very paramount to become very successful in life. Because of the poor education system here in Nigeria, most persons see learning a skill as lesson important. They make us feel white collar jobs are more better than been self employed. Check out billionaires in this world. They started out as entrepreneurs who were determined to make it in life.

Never be idle doing nothing. Ensure you get a skill and use the education your have acquired to amplify your skill. I recently watch a video of @destinysaid talking about his reasons for powering down. If you been ck=lose to him and heard his vision for @debrecords you will understand that he is thinking more as an entrepreneur than a guy who depends solely on his steemit earnings.

I for one i love online businesses and e-commerce as well. I have decided to invest in it, go through series of training on it and make a life out of it. Learn to develop yourself in every area. Never be dependent on what government can do for you but instead think about you you can do to impact your society with your skills.
