Do your job seem boring to you or you find your car too old? Do you think your home is too small or you believe that your partner has grown unattractive? If the answer is yes, it seems like that the problems are with your soul not with your circumstances. When you stop believing that God provides only what’s best for you, your relationship with your Creator gets affected and you lose the satisfaction that your soul needs at the end of the day. When you chase after what the world is offering you, it may satisfy you temporarily but ultimately you will end up being discontented, disappointed, and uncomfortable.
We, too often, find ourselves discontented with the superficial things or ideas of life. This world teaches us to ask and strives for bigger, better, faster, newer, and more expensive. It teaches us to whisper lies that what we have in our life is not good enough. We find ourselves struggling to feel content with the materialistic things of life. We think that we are not measuring up while going through the tough phases of our marriages, jobs, parenting, and physical appearance.
Ways to Peace and Contentment
Basically, contentment involves a feeling of inward sufficiency – a sense that you have enough in your life. You do not get attracted towards what everyone else is craving for.
Here are some ways listed down to cultivate contentment in your life:
- Focus on yourself rather than others
The most significant factor while achieving contentment is to focus on the needs of your inner self. We usually follow the world of social media where people, most of the times, put their best foot forward. By following the life stores of others, we start comparing their best to our worst times of our life. The biggest favor that we can do is to close our eyes to what others are doing and start focusing on the things above that – focusing on ourselves.
Stop living in the world of should, would, and could
We do not realize that we spend most of the time of our lives living in the past rather than focusing on the present. Yes, it is always easy to complain and talk about the things that we should have, would have or could have in our past. But, remember that, things would not change if you keep paying attention to your past and never allow yourself to enjoy the present or focus on the future.Show satisfaction during affliction
We need to accept the fact that all our sufferings and hard times of this world are inevitable. When some hard phase hits our life, we should pray a lot to the God to identify that how mercifully our suffering will turn into a blessing for your spiritual good. When you are being tested for affliction, we come a lot closer to the God. So, rather than trying to escape our suffering, we should ask God to give us the strength to fulfill the duties that we have. Besides that, instead of being preoccupied with our harsh circumstances, we should focus on helping others in need as it will make us feel good about ourselves.Develop a habit of seeking contentment all the time
See, God wants to you contented with your life not only when things are going well. God wants us to be contented when things are hard and when it is so easy to get distracted by the worldly pursuits. Contentment always develops when by not searching for circumstances that we like, but by responding in a faithful manner no matter what kind of circumstances we encounter in our life.Understand the dangers of discontented soul
Contentment is a priceless treasure of spiritual peace. A discounted soul always gets easy attracted towards sins and many other wrongdoings. It opens the door of corruption and rebellion in our soul. It pushes us to underestimate our abilities, capabilities, respect, and self-dignity. When we start being contented with our life, God gives us the necessary strength to face even the worst circumstances of our life. A contented spirit never faces disappointment in life because it wholeheartedly accepts the idea that God has a plan for all of us and He never disappoints a sincere caller
This is spot on. You nailed it right on. Thank you for this. People need to see this so i am resteeming. We often lose sight of what we have wishing we can have it better. Yes, we can have it better but if we don't feel contented with what we have, we will always be competing with others. Thank you once again for this.

Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty.” —Socrates. There were many reasons we chose to become minimalist and simplify our lives. We were frustrated with clutter. We discovered the time that was wasted managing our possessions. We realized joy was not found in our possessions. Finding peace within is a wonderful but also a difficult thing. It is easy to ... “Acceptance of others, their looks, their behaviors, their beliefs, bring you an inner peace and tranquility – instead of anger and resentment.” ... One of my favorite tips for finding things you enjoy or love doing is simply to explore life.nice job on this post sir you deserve my vote and follow

This is a really good piece, thanks for sharing with us. I just want to share aliitle insight on the thought, the more value you give yourself the better worth you get. Well my bible told me in John 14:27 "Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid. So I don't have to worry cause the world has no peace to give only your creator can give your peace. Thanks
