Do you TRUST the PROCESS of LIFE?

By default, people are so damn impatient. They want it all - and they want it yesterday!

I deal with it every day in my business, as the print industry is exceptionally time sensitive. Nine times out of ten people do not plan their requirements adequately in advance, and therefore 99% of our production orders processed are “extremely urgent”.

However, this is NOT the kind of impatience that I am referring to...

I am talking about the impatience that people have with their lives, themselves and their circumstance. I understand that setting goals is an essential element to attaining success and that in certain respects you need to push yourself… but sometimes, you also need to just “trust the process of life”.

"Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced." Soren Kierkegaard

Over the years, I have come to learn, to trust and believe that life will unfold precisely the way it is meant to. You will be led down all the necessary roads, shown all the right signs, taught all the required skills and introduced to all the right people – even the “wrong ones” are the right ones.

Every step of the way, you are growing and developing a completely unique and one of a kind skillset (literally, emotionally and mentally). Every single encounter and bit of knowledge you gather along the way will be made use of when your life’s true intention starts to unfold.

A discussion that I had yesterday reminded me of this - My partner has on several occasions mentioned to me that he would like to get involved in organising events – he is somewhat of a visionary and never lets the size of a challenge detour him from believing that he can achieve it - so he hit the road running by mentioning some really big artists names that he wanted to pull in to SA.

Now as much as I can appreciate his aspirations, I felt that he was possibly going to be biting off a little more than he could chew, especially since he had no prior experience in this facet of the music or events industry, so my advice to him was that he start with smaller events so that he could develop an understanding for the logistics involved in such.

I don’t think he really wanted to hear that, so to a degree, it fell on deaf ears and as time went on, he continued to express his original intentions.

He recently joined his High Schools “old boys committee” and was elected to handle all the events. I had a little giggle to myself yesterday as he was sitting opposite me at the table and was very clearly stressed about a particular event that he was busy putting together. I stopped his rambling and reminded him of what I had said to him several months back about the intricacy of events organisation and my opinion that he should start with something smaller.

Without him even realising it – this position and responsibility was received and the event he is currently busy with, IS a small one.

Of course, I had to have my little moment of “I told you so” fame hehehe - as even at this “entry level” he was stressing.

But (and it’s a BIG BUT) - it is clearly preparing him for where he would ultimately like to be in terms of “his goal”. Life has gently started to steer him in the direction of his dreams in a manner which is manageable and attainable, all the while assisting him to develop the necessary skills, confidence and knowledge that he will need as he climbs that ladder.

Amazing isn’t it.

I know I can testify to this in my own life as well. Every single job I have ever had, whether I enjoyed it or not has prepared and educated me to be equipped to run the business that I do – and to do it well.

Life does not only work like this when it comes to your career choices. It is active in every single facet. Relationships, friendships, hardships, challenges, and experiences – you name it! They are all leading you and shaping you into your best potential self.

"Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them--that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like." Lao Tzu

You simply need to trust the process. Stop being so impatient with it and questioning it, becoming frustrated by it - because it is not delivering what you want, when you want it.

Just move WITH it and you will find that things begin to unfold and blossom a lot faster.

"All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Really nice! It's absolutely true that you need to flow with life at the pace it's moving. Like floating on a river. Go to fast and you will spin your wheels, to slow and you'll miss opportunity. When we try to control that speed is one place things get hairy.

Each experience definitely leads to the next as well. What we learn normally comes up later in something, sometimes totally different.

Great Post!

that is so very true. I am so glad that you saw this the way it was intended to be seen.

Thank you for the lovely feedback - it is always greatly appreciated. xxx

You deserve it Jaynie :)

I love the message! be patient, work hard, and have faith in the process!

True Story!!! thank you :)

I don't remember exactly who said this, but there's an old truism that goes something like "It's better to travel well than to arrive."

Most of the world seems very busy "forcing" life... I see it in some of the artists who come to our gallery and expect instant fortune and fame; for them it is as if "being a famous artist" matters more than simply creating art and trusting that it will come before the right people at the right time.

It has become like this in so many facets of life. It is sad really. Thank you for your lovely input.

Speaking truth! Had this epiphany a couple years back as I realized all I was focused on was the ultimate end goal and did not enjoy or give myself credit for everything accomplished on the way.

Just in a rush to get to the final destination.

Ironically, the practice of doing daily gratitudes is what enabled me to enjoy the present and appreciate not only what I have accomplished, but also appreciate myself on a whole. It has done wonders for my confidence and overall disposition.

The elephant is slowly being eaten.

I am not entirely sure from which stand point you make this statement as there are two sides to view it... but doing things with intelligence and patience does not necessarily mean you do them without passion and guts. :)

How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.

You suggested that he start small, instead of swallowing the whole elephant. ;)

indeed :) however - some see it as you eat too slow, you lose interest... ;) - Glad you saw it from the correct angle! :D

Your a special person love reading your blog!!

right back at you :) and thank you!!!!

Took me a while to be comfortable to let go, and trust that everything is going to be in my best interest, but I did it. Great post!

It is very liberating one you do, isn't it :) Thank you for the lovely feedback xxx

I like big buts and I cannot like.. sorry couldn't help it lol! I was just explaining this last night to someone. They've got a good product, want to do an ICO. I said wait slow down, take a look at this and you might wanna do it like this...instead of jumping in head first and blindfolded. But honestly, I can only agree to an extent here. Patience is great, but you have to be willing to step up, take chances, and make things happen. Otherwise, you may end up wondering 'what if', and watching things happen.

So many seem to have misunderstood this post and the message it was intended to deliver.

Never did I say don't be bold.

Never did I say don't take chances.

Never did I say don't fly with eagles.

Never did I say don't chase your passions like the last train of the night.

what I DID say however, was to trust the timing of deliverance.

Being bold, brave, reckless and faith-fillled is what and who I am - its what I do best and "worst" for that matter - however, in the specific example that I gave note to...

had something that large been blindly run at and failed, that would have been his reputation, SHOT! done! (I gave advice in that instance, which wasn't followed anyway - but life delivered irrespective.)

Perhaps I need to re-look the way I deliver messages, so that more than my mind understands them.

I totally agree with the idea that life is ufolding as it was meant and things happen for a reason we might not understand at that time, but hopefully later on.

Glad to know someone got it 🤗

Your post are really special, every day we need to feed our mind and spirit, thank you for doing such a good job, someday I'll make these great notes, greetings

and thank you too @day1 for the amazingly positive feedback xxx Much love to you

awesome post. i like this

thank you :)

so long

Life is a hurricane and as soon as you let go to trust it you get flown away and have your neck broken when you crash into the hard ground. I have been down far too many paths in life for them to just be dead ends. There are those who change the world and those who just let the world change them.

Your partner sounds like someone who will not settle for second best. The world needs everyone to be different. Some choose to endlessly reinvent themselves; others want to just focus on one thing. Some will wait years for that “opportunity” to never happen; while others will go out looking and creating opportunity for themselves. It not always a matter of being “impatient” it’s about how you choose to utilize your time.

I think you misunderstood me... but thank you for the comment nonetheless. I never said "put passion on pause", nor did I say "stop and wait... until you die". What I SAID, was... that life gives you tools for the job along your journey. I must also say... honestly speaking... you sound somewhat ANGRY. Please don't take it out on me - perhaps instead look at why trust and "letting go" are apparently an issue to you. If you have / had read any of my other posts, you would have a little more insight to the fact that I have as much excuse to resist trust, resist my heart and resist life as the next person... I simply choose not to live that way.

Re. my partner, you are absolutely correct, but so too, am I (and I have traveled countless paths, just like you) - and I choose to utilize my time with a mindset that while I give it my best, things will simultaneously unfold as they should.

Absolutely lovely, I just Iove reading motivational and self development post. They always help me in all things life and I think the most important lesson here is not to let life flow through you but to flow with life because all experiences prepare you for greater things which also prepare you more great things. Thank for this great post, I'll definitely follow you for more of this.

Thank you so much for the beautiful words @adaora - it means the world to me!!! I look forward to seeing more from you too xxx

ohh its SO true! THis is one of the reasons why I live in India now.. If you don't know patience before you come to India, you WILL learn it!! Trusting in divine timing, and letting go and enjoying the moment is so important to having a good life..

THe main issue is also just mental unrest.. If we learn to meditate or learn stillness, we can then find patience at the same time..

Lovely post thanks for sharing this! UPvoted and following you

I would absolutely love to go to India one day. and yes, I totally agree with you. Thank you for the lovely feedback xxx

Wonderful article. So very true. As long as we go with the flow on the river of life and enjoy the ride, we don't get our boats turned upside down as we try to hold on to rocks and other debris in the river because we are too scared of where the flow is taking us. In my experience, it always leads somewhere more amazing than I even imagined for myself.
