Making time for QUALITY TIME!

in life •  7 years ago

You hear about quality time a lot but I really think that quantity time with a person is really what strengthens a relationship. That's when you really get to know somebody. You get to know their strengths and their weaknesses and that brings you closer. That's what 'Time Is Love' is all about. - Josh Turner

Making time for QUALITY TIME!

I decided to take a little bit of a break from any “heavy writing” and online engagement this weekend. I spent time outdoors and time with my family. I pretty much stayed away from technology for most of it… I just needed the breather… a little time to “gather myself” and enjoy life outside of the screen. I think it is really important that we do this from time to time… otherwise our entire universe starts becoming consumed by technology and we can often forget that there are actually real physical people in our lives as well as 3D objects surrounding us… hehehe ;)

It really was good to just spend some time with my family and not have my phone glued to my hand or my laptop screen in front of my face - To just forget about it all and revel in the company of good people.

I think that too often we put things off, things that are truly very important to the enrichment of our lives. We will say “later” or “tomorrow” and then the days turn into weeks and the weeks into months and then we look again and we haven’t seen the people that we love for almost a year…. And that is INSANE!

I understand that the utilisation of technology is a matter of survival for many people, including myself… but at the end of the day when it is all said and done, all of that effort ploughed into the things we are doing to survive is actually worth nothing if we don’t have anybody to share it with.

I think I probably speak for most people these days when I say that technology and social media can be a little like a drug. You can lose yourself in it hours on end – it can literally consume you! And this is not good!

A balance needs to be struck!

We need to make the time to do the things we need to do, but we also need to remember to recharge our hearts and souls… and spending time with family and friends is definitely a key factor in this.

I know that our gadgets are AMAZING tools and their limitless capabilities amaze me everyday. I am a complete and utter tech and social media junkie, but I will say this - it would all become VERY QUICKLY worthless if my life was not surrounded by all the people I love.

Tomorrows are never guaranteed.... Make time for the things that really matter... those being, the people who make your world richer!

Over the years, I've learnt how to strike a balance between both my lives and give quality time to my passion as well as to my family. Yes, it is tiring at times, and every working woman goes through the phase. - Malaika Arora Khan

Yes! Platforms like steemit can become all-consuming because they hit our reward centres in the brain. And being with family, may not always be as easy or rewarding as writing or commenting on a blog post! But it is so much more important to spend that quality time, interruption-free as much as possible, with our loved ones. It's the only way true bonds & relationships are formed... Face to face, or being in the presence of someone will never be replaced fully with online interactions... Humans also need touch for our wellbeing. Thanks for the thought-provoking post :-) I'm off to make brekky for my family now.

So very true @positiveninja and face to face ANYTHING is becoming a sad scarcity these days...

Balance! That is key. We need to truly make time for what and who is important. We shouldn't leave gold, and be chasing after light wood. When the most important things are taken care of, we can now make room for the others, but when trivial things take the center stage, we struggle to fit in important things into our schedule. Never fail to set priorities. Thank you for this reminder.

well said!

Thanks dear.

I really love that subject. Family time ♡

Kisses from me and my little ones 💋

oh your kiddies are just too sweet!!!!!! and thanks for sharing those lovely quotes hon x

For you, always,😉😘

This is great advice. We are losing sight of the important things in life because of technology. Sometimes it pays to step back, take a breather and reflect on what you have. Enjoy the time with your kids because they won't be kids forever and you don't want to miss out on them growing up because your head was stuck in the phone, tablet or PC! Make time folks, it's important.

Precisely!!!!!!!!!!

Time spent with loved is never wasted. It's one of the best moments we can share.

Too often we get carried with other activities that that we forget to forget to spend time with those we love

Wishing you a fulfilling week @jaynie

so true! and thank you @korexe Hope you have an amazing week ahead too :)

That's the reason why I quit my job and dedicated myself to be a fulltime mom and wife but still I'm guilty of this:

technology and social media can be a little like a drug. You can lose yourself in it hours on end – it can literally consume you! And this is not good!

I think I should limit the time spent on gadgets... thanks for reminding ms. @jaynie

pleasure hon :) Glad you enjoyed the read x

this is so true. and we all need reminded more so thanks for that:) steemit can be difficult to keep up with posting every day or often especially with good meaningful content - and it feels great, but sometimes we have to remember the world and people around us as well. thats why i want to get more friends and family to take part in steemit - if they are here we will interact more!:)

Absolutely.... it really can become all consuming at times, but I agree... sometimes we need to slap ourselves in the face a few times haha :)

haha so true! well, maybe not literally ;p hehe

I agree with you completely. Quality time has been a buzz phrase for too long. I believe people should stay busy and be stand by their commitments, but don't let relationships suffer because you cannot find the time.

Very well said! I could not agree more!

Nicely written...
Quality time and balance between work + personal is important
Thanks for an awesome reminder

nice your story post..

I really agree with you, it's human today is very dependent on technology, sometimes we forget with our real life

I've always believe love is intentional. We have to intentionally make plans to spend time with our loved ones. Sometimes, people around us are so familiar that we did not take time to notice them.

I'm staying with my parents, and I usually storm to my room to rest every time I come back from work. I did not realize I've neglected my parents (not spending time with them), even though we are staying under one roof. So I have to intentionally make time to talk & communicate with them, cause that is one of the way to make them feel loved. :)

Yeppers! You nailed it.

One of my favorite things about our weekly family dinners/game nights is how little anyone is on their phone. Even though we're ALL very much online people (and we all stay in touch throughout the week with daily messages, tagging/sharing silly memes, etc) when we're together for family night, it seems like everyone is just happy to hang out and be together. I think that's pretty rare for a family full of early 20 something 'kids'!!!

Great post and kudos to you for making your family a priority and knowing when you needed a break!

Sometimes it is very advisable to take a day off and spend quality time
with your partner and family because it makes your relationship very healthy.
Thanks for sharing with us an excellent piece. @jaynie.
