Movie Review - Wind Chill.

I've decided to review a horror movie every night for the foreseeable future.

This includes slasher flicks, sci-fi horror, space exploration horror, claustrophobic movies, and anything you can possibly think of.

Tonight's review is of a movie that came out in 2007 called Wind Chill.

I can say with absolute clarity that this movie is not at all what I was expecting.

So they say.

Wind chill is a tight little thriller that stars Emily Blunt and Ashton Holmes.

Emily Blunt's been in quite a few good movies including Looper and the Edge of Tomorrow.

Ashton Holmes stars in one of my very favorite World War 2 series......The Pacific.

If you haven't seen The Pacific it's absolutely amazing and easily rivals Band of Brothers in terms of quality and enjoyment.

It's interesting to note that in the movie Wind Chill neither of the main character's names is ever given.

If you just look at the poster to this movie and read the little blurb about it...... you're probably going to think that this a movie where people get trapped in a car and somebody else attacks them. A slasher flick or something like that.

That's what I thought. That somebody was going to get trapped in a car because of an ice storm and then they get attacked....... but it turns out that it's nothing like that at all.

Wind Chill is a paranormal supernatural thriller.

This is never listed anywhere.

IMDb just says Thriller.

Blurb says

Two college students sharing a ride home during the winter holidays find their car broken down on a lonely snowy road - the tension rises when they realize that they may not be alone in this claustrophobic thriller!

You wouldn't think that this was a paranormal or supernatural thriller based on that blurb.

I'll say something unusual about this horror movie. It's quite relaxing at first.

Two college kids go for a nice long peaceful car ride to Delaware.

One of these kids may be hiding something though.

Spoiler: He's hiding the fact that he has a crush on the girl.

After heading to Delaware and taking a side road these two college kids find themselves stranded after being run off the road in an ice storm.

Here's where it gets interesting....

They start to see people walking past and eventually they find out that these people are ghosts.

Some of these ghosts are just walking around....... but some of these ghosts are evil.

These ghosts are able to interact with the real world so they could actually kill you if they wanted to...... or so it seems.

I don't usually go for paranormal movies that often........ especially ones in which we are asked to suspend our disbelief in a way that doesn't make sense.

However, there's something about this movie that I just really liked.

Sure it's paranormal and kind of unbelievable but every actor plays their role really well. You could almost believe something like this could happen even though it almost certainly couldn't.

That's kind of the mark of a good movie isn't it?

If you're looking for a good date movie or even if you're on your own on a Friday night this movie should definitely scratch any horror itch you have.

I'll say it quite clearly.

This is a good movie.
