Every now and then all of the bigwigs come in to my restaurant. By bigwigs I mean all of the corporate officers that look down on us worker bees and frown.
There's never enough work being done. There's never enough money being made for the company.

Anyone that's ever worked anywhere knows that there's a chart somewhere with all the numbers written down.
A certain high paid group of individuals are constantly perusing that chart.
It's the same in the restaurant industry. We have to sell a certain amount of food. We have to sell a certain amount of alcohol. We have to push certain items. We have to make certain that all of the guests are doing things exactly the way that the corporate office wants them to be doing things.
It can definitely be frustrating. Fortunately the corporate office people don't come in very often.
When they do come in the high up managers that work in our store become very stressed out. I like all of those managers, make no mistake.
As soon as I noticed the corporate people came in I began doing various things on the restaurant like cleaning windows. Removing floor planks and then nailing them back on in a better position. Wiping things down outside. Removing gum from the sidewalk. All of this while I was helping my guests. It never stopped.
Nobody from the corporate office ever said anything to me. They never told me to do anything even though they always tell everyone. The reason was because I was constantly working. I never stopped even for a second.
I feel good about what I was doing to because it was really stuff that needed to be done. There was more work done by me today then I have probably done in quite a long time. I'm exhausted and I think it's time to take a little nap before I have to go back.
So the next time somebody comes in and you know they're going to tell you to do something just keep this in mind.
Nobody can tell you to do something that you've already done.
@jeezzle, Absolutely true words and everyone is pursuing same things, but with different dynamics. But our work and dedication speaks for ourselves and when our work speaks then people will not point out but they will already know it and they can understand our expertise. Stay blessed.

removing floor planks and nailing them back down in a better position....... getting gum up off the sidewalk...... for some reason...... that made me laugh. Good thinking though, never look idle in front of the bigwigs !
