陋室铭 An Epigraph of crude hut

山不在高，有仙则名。
The mountain is well-known not because of its height, but because of the spirit that dwells.
水不在深，有龙则灵。
The water is lively not because of its depth, but because of the dragon that inhabits.
斯是陋室，惟吾德馨。
This is a crude hut, but not ordinary considering my virtue.
苔痕上阶绿，草色入帘青。
The vestige of moss is verdurous, spreading on the stage; the grass is green, shining in the bamboo curtain.
谈笑有鸿儒，往来无白丁。
My acquaintances who chat with me are erudite people, none of whom are illiterate.
可以调素琴，阅金经。
I can play the undecorated instrument and read the golden Buddhist scripture
无丝竹之乱耳，无案牍之劳形。
Neither will the lousy music bother me, nor will the worldly work.
南阳诸葛庐，西蜀子云亭。 孔子云：“何陋之有？”
With Zhu Geliang’s cottage in NanYang and Yang Ziyun’s pavilion in Xishu, “how can it be crude?” , said Confucius.
