Is kindness in its result, selfish?

My answer: Yes, absolutely. On some level the brain loves the gratification even hopes of it. The drops of dopamine received to is like a fix! It's no small wonder big social networking platforms introduce likes and such. Getting back to the topic, does that make you wrong? Absolutely not! Kindness and charity are a benefit (not in all cases of course) in its intent, and should be exercised on every possible occasion!

This is how I try to explain to people the right way to grow on steemit. Actively engage other users with relevant comments and then they generally gain an interest in what you're saying and want to view your content. :) I'm going to resteem this and I'll make a post about my response and tag you in it with the props for posing the question. Thanks for the cool comment and hopefully you find my perspective interesting.

Thanks for that. I find all other perspectives interesting that differ from mine. This life thing...it's a learning process!

That's one way to look at it, kindness is not selfish in my opinion because yes you may get a good feeling helping someone and people may think that is selfish, but is the amount of time you spend on kind acts worth the feeling? There are many things you can do which don't involve kindness but make you feel good, that I believe is more selfish than being kind.

But of course this is not the same for all situations, for example liking photos on Facebook will give you absolutely 0 dopamine fix unless you really enjoy pressing a button, it is merely an unconscious action we do. Actual kind acts like helping an old person with something, offering someone to share something of yours, just listening to someone who needs it are satisfying.

Absolutely. There certainly are varying degrees as to what each emotion and reward would entail. All of which could be subjective.
