BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES

The neighbors all are putting up plywood

or hurricane shutters.

A couple of years ago I made these really great screens. Ordered stainless steel mesh on a big roll and just made screens from it. Very sturdy. So if there is something picked up by the strong winds I think these stainless steel screens will be enough to stop it from breaking the window. Maybe?

Anyway yesterday I took one of these super screens down. It was made for a panel on a sliding glass door and didn't come out quite right. It's a three panel glass sliding door. It was sturdy enough but it just didn't look right.

For showing the house the realtor last week thought it would be good to remove it. I took it down and trash removal took it. But now the storm is coming and the entire glass panel is exposed.

Just so happens there are metal louver doors on the kitchen pantry that are just the right width and height (adjustable height). They run on channels top and bottom. So I won't even have to drill any holes in anything since the sliding glass doors already have channels. Just stick them out there tomorrow.

Sounds easy enough. There's usually a catch to just about everything. Stay or go, haven't decided yet, that glass panel needs something to protect it from stuff flying around.

Batten down the hatches. Hare Krishna..

Stay safe!! Krsna will always protect you, but don't make him work too hard!

Ha Ha. Good point. someday I want to be able to take care of Krishna. :>)

Take care and good luck. I have been thinking about you. Hope you get through it ok! It might be best to get out just to be on the safe side.

Been thinking about you too. Hope all is well. The mad scramble to leave here is worse than the storm itself. there's no gas at the gas stations and people are driving like maniacs. Motels are all booked up from here to who knows where. The last thing I want to do is get caught up in that mess. Three dear sweet friends, kind-hearted, have offered for me to stay with them. But I just can't see getting into the mass exodus. I just hope the roof and shingles make it through this.
