26 Teenage Girls Found Dead At Sea

in life •  7 years ago

26 teenage girls from age 14 to 18 are believed to be migrants from Nigeria unfortunately lost their lives yesterday.

Italian authorities and coroners are still investigating the cause of death and or if sexual abuse was in the play here. Lorena Ciccotti, Salerno's head of police, told CNN that aid workers arrived to a gritty scene and from the sound of it, it sounds like a scene straight out of a movie.

Some girls were hanging on to the almost sunken vessel as lifeless bodies floated all around. Over the weekend, more than 300 Nigerians tried to escape the poverty, violence and corruption in their own land.

In the article I read from CNN, 400 people were brought aboard the Spanish vessel Cantabria before disembarking at the Italian Port Town of Salerno.

it's sad how many governments fail at their most important task of protecting their people, and a tragedy when the people have to escape from the government itself.

If Trump&Co would stop fighting each other and bury the hatchet and focus on people and their needs, such story would never happend, but instead we'll end up in war in no time!

Oh,I am sorry to hear that

i dont understand the rush to make money. why cant we stay in our country and build it. we are able to go to other countries because they built it.

i am so sorry for their loss though. RIP

so sad news☹☹😢😢

Is sad people have to flee their country to find a better living. Is fucked up that they have to take ships and be on sea for weeks; basically is a lottery shot because they dont know if they make it those weeks but they risk their life for a better life for them and their families. I know some people that did that, so please dont ever take what you have for granted because is people who will risk their lives to have what you have...

May the soul rest in peace. We human should forward our hand and support humanity......May this act doesn't happen again.

So Sad News.

so sad... I hope these things will happen less often

That's horrible...so sad. RIP young ladies.

Congratulations @joseph!

Thanks for posting this. @olaat and @michellecarter would be interested in seeing this. From the CNN report and circumstances, this is almost certainly sex trafficking related.
