The Things You've Not Obtained In Your Youth...

"The Things that You have not Obtained in your youth, how will you find them in your old age?"
Sirach 25:5

I don't know how many of us have read the Catholic Bible that contains other books like the Baruch, Maccabees and Sirach. I went through the Holy Book yesterday, and while reading through different passages, I came across this particular portion that struck me deeply.

It reminded me of my father's words and the Ibibio proverbs he normally shares with us and it goes thus, "ndudongo afon ku uyin". Meaning that, hustling, settling down, achieving of one's life goals and dreams is best pursued at youth. The above question goes ahead to imply a lot, that I would really love to examine one by one in details some other time, but in summary, the question above lays emphasis on the fact that the future is actually now.

And that if anyone is still living only in the fantasy of their dreams and future, they'll be doomed when reality sets in at old age. And they might not necessarily be doomed, but might have to swim in the ocean of regrets. To avoid the ultimate search at old age for the things that ought to have been obtained at a youthful stage. It is important for young persons to pause and pay attention to what really matters now in their life and to work towards them and take practical steps towards achieving them. Hardwork and delayed gratification will also help in obtaining some of these things. Sleep, laziness, lack of focus, an unresolved spirit, lack of integrity etc will act as inhibitors.

There is no better time to live our dreams than now, but it will demand from us to pass through the process of making things work by doing the work ourselves.
THE FUTURE IS NOW!
