With the struggles and demands of life, it has become necessary more than ever for women to work to support their husbands in catering for the family. To this end, the need has therefore arisen to have someone around who would look after the children and assist with household chores in the mother's absence.
I watched a very disturbing video today of some months old baby physically abused by her nanny or maybe her mother's maid. Not sure of the baby's gender. The nanny; a lady hit the child severally, slaps on the face and strangled the child with the shirt he/she was wearing. The baby cried so much. I didn't know what that child could have done to deserve such punishment. But I suspect that the treatment was a reaction to the bad treatment the nanny must have received from the baby's parents.
It has become imperative that parents double check and even triple check the persons they bring into their homes to look after their children as some of these people turn out to be pedophiles who sexually abuse the children under their watch. Some others have also physically and emotional abused these kids. Some other children have been introduced to other vices through their care givers. Most abusive adults were abused children themselves. Hurting people hurt others.
An unsatisfied staff will not put his or her best into whatever job they are given. Be sure your house helps are comfortable with you and the income they receive from you. The happiness you give to your domestic help is directly proportional to the one they give to your kids. There are a few exception to this rule though. Treat your domestic help and other staffs well for the sake of your children in their care.
Pay attention to your kids. Beyond their mental state, also pay attention to their physical and emotional state. That way, you can monitor what happens to them when you are away from the house. Most importantly, educate your child on sex education as soon as possible so they can tell what touches are appropriate and which are not. Be their friend and confidant so they can open up to you and tell you what happens in your absence.
This is quite educating and informative. If most mothers take this into deep consideration, some forms of child abuse will be reduced.
