Today's theme has been when it rains, it pours. After seeing new friends gain an incredible amount of success, I kept telling them, "When it rains, it pours" which was clearly a poor omen for the thunderous storm coming our way. I remember it distinctly, my father walking down the basement stairs then shouting for me to quickly come down: we had a flood.
Our reactions were naturally erratic; we felt the usual: despair, anger, frustration, worry, but most importantly, acceptance. Each time we wanted to give up and stop, we looked at each other: no words necessary, we had a mutual reassurance to stay focused on cleaning the mess. Our army of two managed to vacuum the majority of the water up, displace the wet objects, and minorly clean the damages.
Within two hours, we wiped away a significant component of the issue and even found the root of the problem. Our pump drain had been clogged with construction materials. Our beliefs align accordingly: this flood, like the one before it, was a direct result of the home builder's reckless decision to toss construction garbage down the drainage hole. This is emblematic of life lessons: always ensure you are tossing your garbage in the correct location, some drainage is used for the water of truth and improper garbage will block the flow of truth.
