My experience in Prison when I got Locked up 2 years ago 2014 at age 19

in life •  8 years ago

I got Locked up for a burglary , Hanging out with the wrong people, I got sentenced 4 years at 50% which is 2 years.
So that means in illinois i had to do 2 years straight, and my case was probational, since it was my first case ever,

Well to get back to the topic, i was in a prison called Mount sterling , west correctional center. We where in a 8 by 8 foot cell, locked up 21 hours a day, You eat 3 times a day and you have to wake up for breakfast at 4.am.
If you don't wake up for breakfast by the time your door opens inside your cell they lock it and you don't eat breakfast, and then you eat lunch around 10:30 a.m same thing you have to be right by the door as soon as the C.Os (Correctional officers) click all the doors , again if your sleeping , or don't wake up you don't eat. Than we have dinner around 5 or 6 in the evening. Again you only get like 7 minutes to eat each meal. Than you gotta be out of the cafeteria, you go out to the yard 5 days a week only for 1 hour. Basically you locked up in your room for the whole time. It was frustrating at times because sometimes you get a Cell partner who you can't vibe with, and then come problems.

But overall after i got out it was a good lesson learned i view my freedom differently , I see the world different ,
And i really needed that experience in my life.
