• The latest report from the EPA's Environmental Protection Agency.
• Indicators on how 180 countries play an important role in environmental protection.
• Bangladesh has fallen to 179th place among 180 countries.
• The first index was created in 2006.
• In 2006, Bangladesh's position was 125th.
• In the past one decade, Bangladesh has been down by 54 steps to control pollution.
For deploying any city in the world, some are again famous for tree or wetland. The capital Dhaka is now featured for air pollution. The US Environmental Protection Agency's EPA's latest report said Bangladesh is the second most polluted country in the world.
The state's status report on pollution control was released on January 23 by the EPA. The organization created an index about how 180 countries around the world are playing an important role in environmental protection. Bangladesh has dropped to 179th place among 180 countries. The index was first created in 2006, the year Bangladesh was 125th. That is, in the past one year, Bangladesh has fallen below 54 points in the field of pollution control.
As the world's top contaminated air country, first Nepal, then gradually the name of Bangladesh, India, China, Pakistan and Congo has emerged. And Australia is the first country to be a clean air. Then there are Barbados, Jordan, Canada and Denmark.
Bangladesh Environment Department's Clean Air and Sustainable Environment (Keyes) project review the air quality in eight cities of the country every day. In addition to Dhaka for two months Rajshahi, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Chittagong, Sylhet, Barisal and Khulna city have been identified as air quality and very unhealthy. Among the most polluted air cities are the capital Dhaka. Then there is Rajshahi. Although Barisal is the least polluted city, its air is worse than the standard, that is, the danger.
According to the Daily Air Environment Report of the Department of Environment, the air quality of Narayanganj was among the worst in the country's eight major districts on Saturday. It has been identified as severely unhealthy in response to the EPA. On the same day, the air of Dhaka and Sylhet is very unhealthy. The air in Gazipur and Chittagong was unhealthy. The air of Rajshahi and Barisal has been identified as unhealthy. Since December, the air has a bad condition. During December-January, most of those cities had a severely unhealthy air quality.
Asked about this, Manzurul Hannan Khan, director of the Nirmal Air project of the Department of Environment, said in the first light that during winter, the amount of small and small particles that are responsible for pollution in the air generally increase. Nearly six thousand brick bamboos grown around the major cities of the capital, including the capital, are mainly responsible for pollution. They were launched in winter. At the same time, due to the construction and repair of various infrastructure, the air becomes naturally contaminated.
Following the global wind standards, the Department of Environment observes the value of air. When the index of air quality is above 100, it becomes harmful to the human body. This indicator is made by measuring small particulate matter and four types of gaseous substances in the air.
According to environmental law, the small particulate matter in the air or 'PM 2.5' is about 15 micrograms per cubic meter. The value of 'PM10' or micro-particulate matter is 50 micrograms.
In the capital of 2015, the PM 2.5 was an average of 81 micrograms. In 2016, 76 micrograms PM10 average of 148 micrograms in 2015 and 158 micrograms increased in 2016.
The source of pollution
In 2016, under the KeEs project of the Department of Environment, a survey of the source and type of air pollution in Dhaka has been done. The poll conducted by Norway's Institute of Air Research found that around one thousand brick batter's around Dhaka started making bricks in November. These brickfields are responsible for 58 percent of air pollution.
BRAC University's Emeritus Professor Ainun Nishat said in the first light, the government is implementing a project of Tk 100 crore for the clean air of the World Bank loan. The multi-storied building of the Department of Environment, foot water bridges on the road, many officials have been travelling abroad. But the government's evidence proves that pollution has not increased, but rather increased. He said, most of the bricks in the country have no technology to control pollution. At the time of the construction of public and private projects, it is not allowed to minimize the mining or water to control the dust.
