Self Care Day 3: Shift Your Perception
Self Care brings us to our ability to shift perception. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else in the world and performing the way you think they think you ‘should’ perform. When we make these comparisons to others, we either find ourselves lacking, which makes us feel cheated, or we find ourselves superior, which leaves us feeling arrogant. When we make these comparisons we also begin to steal from ourselves, from our own uniqueness.
We tend to want to fill every moment with something, rushing to get to the next thing without giving ourselves time to digest our very own lives. How can we have access to our own lives if we don’t take the time to actually access it. Why do we rush to the next thing and fail to experience the here and now. How can we shift our prospective and get excited about our life, the possibilities of living, to engage in the joys and challenges of building ourselves? As soon as we make this shift, look at the world through our authentic glasses, guess what happens… We begin to serve the world instead of steal from it and in turn our attention is now aimed towards shaping ourselves into someone of value instead of just moving through the day*
Today, as soon as you find yourself rushing around, feeling the heartbeat rise… Just stop. We all have time to just stop, to take a breath, to shift our perception from go, go, go to breathe, breathe, breathe. All of a sudden that parasympathetic nervous system has kicked in, our heart rate slows, we see the world through new glasses and we gave back to ourselves. We gave back a moment that we would have ordinarily stolen from ourselves. How refreshing does that feel?

So often we forget that we are breathing at all times. As we get stressed our breathing pace increases and as we become relaxed our breathing slows. Inversely, as we breath calmly we become relaxed. So, Just to stop and take a ‘conscious’ breath can alter our state of mind to a more ‘conscious’ state.
Thanks for the post, and reminder to be present! 👍
