I thought I was in for a nice quite day with it just being me and my daughter plus our 3 dogs, but Luna had other plans. We have been concerned about how she keeps being sick, we had heard there was a bug going around affecting dogs. All 3 of our dogs have had the sickness and diarrhoea, Geordie and Mika went through it but after a few days they were back to normal, unfortunately our little pup Luna seems to be suffering from it every few days.
Today when we got out of bed she didn't want any food, that's not like her, she turned down everything, by around 1pm she started act very clingy again, this is when we know something is wrong. She had slept a lot and by the time hubby got home she was acting very strange. We got an appointment at the vets for the same day.
The vet gave her a thorough investigation, she checked everything, Luna had her anal glands cleaned, her ears checked, heart checked etc. We have to collect a water sample That should be fun, as she has a weird discharge. Luna was given 2 injections, 1 to stop the sickness the other an antibiotic as they think she may have an infection. The Vet said it could be an intolerance to a certain food or Pancreatis. I came away with Canaural drops for her ears as she keeps scratching, Metrobactin tablets for a Gastrointestinal infection and Ranitidine solution for to help soothe her stomach.
She didn't like the Vet, she clung to hubby then as soon as she got her injections she was nearly on hubby's shoulder. She was very happy when it was time to leave. We don't have to start her medication until tomorrow, don't think our little girl could take anymore prodding and probing today.
I have a little plastic cup that we will have to use to carry around when we take her out so we can get a water sample, that will be a task. Oh and I can't forget the bill, we all know how expensive Vets can be.
I don't care how much it costs to make her better. |I was expecting a bigger bill but there could be more tests needed, thankfully we have her insured so keeping all the receipts just in case they add up, our Vets have said they will deal with it if there is more treatment needed, they will send the receipts of with the form. We have to take her back in a week, if she is still poorly they will be doing blood tests.
She is sound asleep on my lap looking so cute and being as good as gold.
Thank you @son-of-satire
It's awful when pets get sick. It leaves you feeling so helpless. Hope she gets well soon.
