I am having a rant

NO its not about Steemit

I have been re-called to the DWP Department for Works and Pensions for an assessment to prove I am still disabled..

I have been disabled for over 20 years but since The Conservatives took over at number 10 Downing Street. They have changed how disabled people are looked after. We now have to prove we are disabled by going through these assessments every year just in case we get better.

My appointment was for 3.45 today, Glen had to take half a day off to take me there as its a 30 minute drive away plus I have no one else to go with me. When we got there the receptionist said:

Sorry we are running behind, you can wait until 4,15 when we will know if you will get seen today, or you can make another appointment for another day

So they wanted me to sit around for an hour with the chance I might not get seen. We decided to come home and wait for a new appointment. They could have phoned me

Thanks Google

These appointments are terrible, my hubby hates them too, he calls it a cattle market. They ask inappropriate questions. Last year I was asked:

You have depression, why haven't you killed yourself?

My hubby nearly jumped out of his chair at the assessor.

I was dreading today, Now I have to go through it all again at a later date.

Thank you @son-of-satire

Get an old tape recorder, when you go into the interview put it on the desktop, turn it on, this interview is being recorded for the court case that may follow if you ask inappropriate questions, or similar.
Make sure they identify themselves clearly at the start as well.
It will change their reaction very quickly.

I am thinking about recording my next one. Or Give hubby boxing gloves then let him loose lol

It is very surprising what a difference a tape recorder will make.

Really inappropriate question, I'm shocked! I don't have words :(

I was the same, that's the last question they should ask... :(

Oh goodness, well good luck. I hope it works out for you. At least you are in the UK in the USA we are even worse with benefits and aide for people.

Its really bad here to, we have so many food banks that are nearly empty, so many homeless, its getting out of control.

Wow that sucks!

To be treated like that is just not right.

I'm glad my wife doesn't have to go through all that - I mean, it's not like her brain is going to grow back overnight is it? ;-)

You have depression, why haven't you killed yourself?

That requires a response, something like - "I thought about it, but what keeps me going is the hope that one day you will be sitting where I am being asked the same stupid questions. It's a small dream, but us disabled people have small dreams. As you might one day find out."

What a f-ing thing to ask? I'm surprised your hubby didn't didn't rip the assessor's arm off and beat him with the soggy end.

As for them not being bothered to phone you or have a way of letting you know they are running late, turn it around.

On the day of your appointment, phone them - every five minutes to check if they are running late or not. And get everyone you know who uses their services to do the same thing, all day every day. Pretty soon there will be a nice little app you can download that will let you know how they are doing for time ;-)

I hope your next appointment is less stressful. ;-)

I had took stop hubby from trying to kill him what a stupid question to ask anyone.
Its getting worse here, hope my next appt isn't for a long time.

What kind of question is that? Are they encouraging people to commit suicide? What the heck! How would they like to be asked those asine questions? If you have been disabled that long what makes them think that you had a miraculous cure? Unbelievable!

Its shocking how they treat us now, There trying too save money so taking it off people who can't fight back

Don't you lose your spunk and fight, Karen! You fight for what is rightfully yours!

I intend too but they do try to wear you down. Bunch of idiots.

They do. I think that is what they are paid to do. Perhaps they get extra bonuses when they can cut people off...
