My youngest daughter is a vegetarian and has been one for around 10 years, she changed her diet due to watching a video at school about chickens and how they were treat. She was 10, as soon as I picked her up from school she told me I do not want anymore meat
Thankfully years before I had her I used to work in Holland & Barratt so new quite a bit about being a vegetarian as I was one when I worked there. I had a good idea on what she would now she wasn't eating meat. We got into a routine of reading the labels on everything we bought, shocked at how many products have Beef/Pork gelatine. We stopped buying a few products because of what we found such as puddings from the chiller, she used to love a chocolate mousse, unfortunately her favourites had Pork Gelatine in, she stopped eating it.
We tried the Linds Mcartney range frozen/fresh food ready made such as sausages, lasagna etc, she wasn't to keen on her range but thankfully Quorn brought out a lot of products that she did like, Chicken nuggets, escalopes etc but she hated the mince and Quorn pieces so we had to think of other things to make dishes with. We relied a lot on vegetables, Jacket Potatoes, pasta dishes and rice. Now the Quorn range has grown with a lot of other food like, scotch eggs, quorn roast for a Sunday lunch, curries and bacon. Not that she eats it all.
I am surprised she has lasted so long and stuck to it at all times, I am proud she has stuck to her principles. She has talked about going Vegan but not yet took that leap. Just recently she has been suffering with mouth ulcers, now this us usually down to a lack of B12 vitamin which is best taken in a Vitamin B complex. I went to the shop to buy her some to see if it helps, I have to remind her every night to take them as she hates the smell but if it works I will make sure she does.
Quorn have brought out a Vegan range, If you want to check there products out here is the link to there page,
It can get really hard to feed her at times as she does not like many vegetables, she is picky with her fruit and vegetables. I don't know what we will do if she does go Vegan, I best start doing some reading up just incase.
Thank you @son-of-satire
Thank you @artedellavita
She really is strong in her decision! I tried... I failed. Turkey and fish are still with me

There's a way to roast mushrooms to the flavor of bacon, literally. There are diy vids on YouTube.
Peace.

Yes, they're nutritious.
I learned something new from a fellow Steemian regarding the risks associated with eating them raw. I'm including the link should you like to read it.

No failures in trying ;+)...
Only failure is not trying to do things to make life better.
Peace.

Good for your daughter for sticking to her beliefs. And it must be difficult due to peer pressure. When you look at all the processed foods the all contain animal by-products of some sort. I am beginning to feel like your daughter, I don't want meat on my plate, especially if I don't know its origin.

Make her "Cook for the Night", where she sources the food, prepares it and then cooks it.
When faced with the lack of option a willie mother would suggest something with meat in it and slowly introduce real food that way.
How expensive is NZ lamb, sheep, beef in your shops?
At least you know where they grew up and their growing conditions.
