Taking 2 years to come of opoids, down to 1 tablet from 8.

Around years ago I was prescribed Codeine to help with my pain, for around 4 years I was taking 8 x 30mg a day.

2 years ago I was referred to a Rheumatologist as I was having a lot of pain all over my body. I got my appointment for June , this is where I found out I had Fibromylagia, the specialist went though everything I was taking, he also did a body check where he pressed on points on my body to see how bad the pain was, I also had blood tests. He diagnosed me with Fibro and gave me a plan where he wanted me to come off the Codeine but would need to be wean off slowly, he gave me 2 years to be totally Codeine free.

Today I am now down to 1 a day, I take that one at bedtime. I will be Codeine free in a couple of months. I am not sure how I feel since coming off them. In place of them I have been given Duloxetine. These help with Depression and Fibromylagia, I take 2 x 30mg daily, these are being upped to 3 a day.

I am hoping to see a difference in my pain with changing these tablets, I am hoping it might help with the fogginess, the brain fog gets so bad I get myself in a right muddle.

I know one thing I won't miss is that horrible taste that makes you want to throw up, the taste that lingers through the day even after brushing your teeth.

ive known a few friends who've struggled with fibromylagia, it's terrible to see the pain that they go through, too bad you couldn't try cannabis or CBD 👍 I hope you find some remedy from your pain

Thank you, I am hoping they change the laws in this country, then I may get some relief as would a lot of others :)

It must be a different body reaction, to me codeines do nothing, barley sugars are more effective and harder to give up.
Good luck with your new pills, I hope they work well.

I do like a Barley sugar, I really dont feel much different stopping them, there's been no change so far but I have had a little more pain.

Hang on in there, I remember Rome wasn't built in a day, they had builders strikes and it blew the contract time to hell.

I am a very impatient person, i hate having to wait for a bus, thankfully i don't have to these days :)

Enjoy your flowers

8 pills to 1 is amazing!
My brother has weaned himself off the hard stuff but every once in a while he needs an few extra Advil for the pain. You're doing great.

Thank you, I take other painkillers with these, I have lost 7 tablets and still dont feel much different. I am glad to see the back of them.

Hello @karenb54. Well done for coming off the Codeine (well nearly :-)). My wife has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and takes Codeine to ward off the muscle pain she feels. Recently she has tried CBD (Cannabidiol) oil to try and reduce her use of Codeine. It seems to work to a certain extent and she sleeps much better when she has some. It is derived from Cannabis but is totally legal in the UK. Have you ever thought of trying it?

Hi :( I have tried CBD oil in a vape, I've had to stop until I find out if its OK to use if you have Asthma :)
