Conquering loneliness: Finding the right community ❤️

Moving to a new place is scary and lonely. When I first graduated college I moved myself 4 times in one year. I moved from Texas to New York to California and finally to Sacramento. This was one tough year.

I have always been an extravert, which means I thrive from other people’s energy. Moving to unfamiliar places was hard, because I did not know a single person.

I am happy to say that after living in Sacramento for 3 years, I now call it my home. For me, home is wherever I feel loved. Since living in Sacramento, I discover acroyoga, and the acroyoga community is now like my family. Every day I get to play with wonderful people that I love and respect dearly. I cherish the friendships I have and the time they spend with me.

The wonderful thing about being on Steemit is that I have another amazing community to share my stories and thoughts with. Steemit is a great place to meet intelligent folks and I love hearing everyone’s thoughts about life. The best part about Steemit, is I can literally fit you all in my pocket. I’ll never have to feel alone again. I hope to one day attend a Steemit meetup so I can meet my friends in person. For now, Steem on!

Aww Karen, you all have got some serious body control!

Great community!

HAHAHAH! Now if only I could do what that person can do in that gif! :P

hihi,... naaaah i just like to gif-troll you!! :-D

HEHE love it! :)

It can be lonely living away from home but it can also be lonely in your hometown.

I agree. That's why finding the right community I could connect with made all the difference in the world!

Yes it's a great feeling, knowing you can open your laptop, or unlock your phone and start interacting with people on topics that interest you. The number of meet-ups seem to be growing too which i think is great!

Yes. I can't wait. :) The internet is really a magical thing. It makes us all feel connected.

Connected is the right word. I wonder how many can connect at all to my post today, it could perhaps connect me with a different community here on Steemit. We shall see.

Good luck! I personally found so many wonderful people on Steemit. I'm sure you can too.

Thank you! Working on it slowly but surely :)

You can always find people everywhere. Having the internet today helps keep connect to old networks. So when I moved city and country (I have done a number times), I could call upon my old networks for possible connections in the new location. And because they are friends or friends, usually, that means they are like minded people. =)

Yes, this is true. Good people are everywhere. It just takes a little bit of time and effort on your end to get out there and meet them!

I've found it takes about a year to settle in, two years to know a few people, and by the third you have a real social network. I've done it four times now. =)
