Motanka doll - a report on the workshop in which I created my POWER doll 👩 DIY

Would you like to learn to create dolls that will be like a talisman for you and fulfill your wishes? Such dolls for "special tasks" are motanka dolls ;)

The tradition of creating motanka dolls is common in our eastern neighbors - Belarusian and Ukrainian. For several years I have noticed that it is gradually becoming more popular in my country and for some time I have felt like going to the workshop of their creation. In the end I succeeded :) In this post I will tell you about this process.

The name - motanka doll comes from the technique of making, i.e. reeling with yarns and threads and twisting the materials of the doll's limbs and body.

How to make your own motanka doll?

At first, choose the intention in which you create the doll. What would your wish fulfill? Keep this wish to yourself, do not say it loudly. Think about it when creating a doll ... Importantly, we choose only good, positive wishes.

The creation process can be similar to meditation when you focus on intentions and the next steps leading to the creation of a doll. Create it in focus and in being aware.

Important! We do not use threads! We can use scissors to cut scraps of material, although tearing is recommended. You can also attach various elements to the doll.

The dolls do not have any detailed face elements - eyes, lips, nose etc. This is because, having obtained an identity, it could fulfill its intentions but it has to fulfill our wish.

Once you start making a doll, you can't stop the process of creating it.

After creating the doll, talk to her, give her a small gift and tell her exactly how can it help you.

When the wish comes true, the doll should be burnt or buried in the ground.

And now let's move on to the process of creating a doll. At the beginning we create a head. To do this, we select a piece of material and roll it in the shape of a ball.

Then we wrap it with white material, squeeze at the bottom and tie it tightly with e.g. yarn, mouline or a piece of material.

It is important to leave two pieces of material sticking out of the head, which will be used to make the arms.

We twist the material tightly - on the shoulders.

We wrap it with some piece of fabric and fix it with e.g. yarn or mulina. We wrap the material on the shoulders.

Then we create the body. For this purpose, I suggest you choose a fairly strong fabric, no matter what color, we will wrap it later with another one that we will like.

When the body is ready we can wrap it with the chosen fabric, I chose purple. It was quite long and created a base for the skirt.

In the next step, I tied the doll with a burgundy belt, and on the purple material that served as the base of the skirt I put a different, colorful material - in flowers and stripes.

I put on her a burgundy scarf.

I added her brown braids and this is the final version of the doll. I hope that it will fulfill my wish ... although I am a person who approaches such beliefs with a great distance, so I don't get into thinking that the doll will work, but if it did, it would be nice :) Anyway is a nice, original decoration in the room.
