One of the Most Expensive Meals I've Ever Had...Part 3

At Ginza Ukai Tei in Tokyo, the chef placed the savory piece of Wagyu steak onto the very hot grill, and it began to sizzle. The smell was impeccable. For those who may be unfamiliar with Wagyu, it is a breed of cattle that is predisposed to intense marbling and is heavy in unsaturated fat. And definitely a delicacy for fine meat lovers!

As the chef prepared our steak to a fine medium rare, he seasoned it with salt and freshly ground black pepper. It was soon time to flip it over.

As the steak gets a nice brown on it, he begins to prepare the serving plate with finely sliced red onions for garnish.

He then cuts the Wagyu into three strips lengthwise.

And then again across the grain.

To form perfectly cubed steak.

And then he transfers it to our plates in a beautiful presentation. It tasted amazing, and literally melted in your mouth like butter with every bite :)

Afterwards he scrapes the grill down and spoons a couple tablespoons of minced garlic onto the grill as part of our next entree.

The chef then pulls out some white rice that he had warming on the side, and sets the garlic on top of a pile of it.

Once the flavors infuse together for a few seconds, he begins to combine them together with two spatulas.

Shortly after, he transfers the garlic rice to small bowls for us to taste.

As finish our rice and Wagyu, we are ushered by the waiter to our dessert table. As we walk to the other side of the restaurant, we pass this dainty collection of wines.

We soon arrive at the dessert table and are pleasantly surprised by yet another romantic table display. Stay tuned as we order and indulge in some phenomenal Japanese desserts.
