How To Stay Calm All The Time

It can often be hard to take bad news. We beat ourselves up, we overthink and we overall just get a horrible amount of anxiety over it. We often don't realize that we don't have to react in the way we usually do. Often when we throw tantrums or act all crazy, we only hurt ourselves more.

Daydream

Give yourself those moments to just relax and dream. Put down your phone and give yourself time to contemplate and test crazy ideas with your mind. You have a better chance of finding a solution to your problem when you do that. Whereas constantly keeping yourself distracted by your phone, video games and other things keep you from solving problems in your life. This is how I've made big decisions in my life. And given myself hope when I felt like my life was going "nowhere." Sometimes there are so many more options that we are overlooking.

Acknowledge Your Feelings!

When you feel the extreme emotions coming on. What are you feeling? Often we forget to acknowledge the pain we feel so we just let it boil up. When my mechanic said, my car was in a wreck a huge surge of emotions came over Me. Good thing I can't teleport I would have beat the guy at the dealership who lied to me. At some point my mechanic flat out told me, he's so brutally honest about my car because he didn't want to waste my money. Then he commented to my dad when he kept cracking jokes. "Hey! She got a lot of bad news today. And is probably pretty upset ".
That's when it dawned on me. "I am upset." My beautiful car got hit; it got hurt by something, I was lied to, I had no idea at that moment if I would still have my car in a week from now if it would cost me a ton of money. Or if I would even get my deposit back if I decided to return the car.
I was upset; I felt uneasy at that unknown. That had the potential to wreck a part of my life that I tried so hard to get for myself.
When I acknowledged the fact that I was upset. Something bizarre happened. The anger went away; I felt better. Even while I waited for the mechanics call to hear the news of what might end up needing to be fixed or replaced. I felt at peace. I know at this point it was out of my control. That going berserk over this would accomplish nothing.

Take Breaks

This is similar to Daydreaming. Not only do we need to take breaks from the constant interruptions and demands of our time: our phones, gaming, etc. But take a break from working. Ever had writing or creative block? Well, there you go. We tend to have the same ideas over and over again. Studies suggest that most of our thoughts are the same from yesterday. When you work yourself to death you can't keep generating new ideas; you need to step out of your comfort zone. By taking breaks, it will allow you to return to a feeling of calmness even if your life is a big mess. It even allows you to reevaluate your priorities because it's too easy for us to get off track.
Staying calm reduces our stress levels and improves our health overall. Most of the time our stresses are over things that are now out of our control. Which does nothing to benefit you. Becuase things that are going to happen will happen at that point

This has sort of brought me out of some very dark depression. Or at least headed in the right direction. Resteeming. Thanks @kaylinart

Thank you so much. I hope it can help you for the long run :( I know struggling with that kind of thing can be really rough!

Yes it is hard. But i will continue working on not freaking out over things out of my control, or being sad about them

dont worry @chelsea88 everything is going to be alright

It's not a good idea to stay calm all the time...

very good article @kaylinart

Thank you

It is always good to confront and accept your emotions. These days so many people escape into fantasy worlds on the internet. There is still nothing better than a warm one on one with a trusted friend. About the phone, leave it behind when in company, we are all addicted in this modern world.

Very nice @kaylinart

Thanks

creative thinking, and this is great idea!
but sometimes there is no more option that we are overlooking.

Some very good common sense advice from @kaylinart !

I never found daydreaming to help.It just made me avoid the problem instead of focusing on solutions.

totally; I would like to add 'Get Active' if you allow me hehe... as in go for a walk, exercise etc. helps me out 😀

Yees! You're right acknowledge your feelings is the best thing you can do.Very often we don't want to do this because we don't want to feel the emotion entirely. We just want it to go away, so we avoid it. But acknowledging it let us release our control over it and strangely, by doing this, it usually passes.

thanks for your inspiratif article @kaylinart , i love your writing , hopefully you will always share us another article as this article. it's so inspire me.
thanks for sharing

Thank you :) I'm glad it helps inspire youhehe.

Good read!

You know what I used to do until recently whenever I used to have those uncontrollable outbursts or those super-anxious moments in my life? I used to break empty glasses and cups :/ .. yeah that was my idiotic way of 'venting it out'. And one day, I was about to do the same and then I suddenly stopped.. thought about this habit and right there and then, I had an opposite feeling.. an uncontrollable laughter out of nowhere! :O

That was it for me... I was done with that stupid habit of mine and now I have far more control over myself whenever the chips are down! I take everything as another experience, and move on from it. Period! :)

That is a million dollar article. To kill the overthinking is really hard at these times, the same thoughts capture us again and again and we feel helpless.

I love the way you think my dear!

Thank you :)

Mwah!! xxx

Staying calm in all the situations is a blessing but it can be achieved with a lot of practice as well. If we're not calm from inside, we can't be peaceful regardless of whether we are in some paradise on earth. If we're calm from inside, we can face any difficulty. Great post and lots of inspiration and positive energy in it for the readers. Good job @kaylinart.

People misunderestimate the importance of taking breaks and giving time to yourself. Scientists have recently discovered something called the default mode network which is only active when the brain isn't focused on a task - it works on memory retention and making connections.

Nice article kay. The best way I have learn to deal with problems when they start popping out, I remind myself that no matter how bad the situation is we all gonna get old and eventually perish and die so why worry so much???lol. so make sure that little bit of time you have left to live you spend it building your beautiful story, you gonna leave behind when you no longer around. less time worrying and more time creating!! sorry for my bad grammar lol

Keep inspiring! You're doing it great!
Light up the spark - if you do it, you can!

Thanks for the tip @kaylinart. I'm most definitely a daydreamer. Not the lazy one but the one who has a vision and goal that's pretty ambitious I would say :)

I would think that, for you, putting your emotions into pen and paper, both writing a heartful and helpful post like this, or sketching a new anime girl, would help to settle your mind, or would you find the bad news or strong emotion to be too distracting?

I just made a post about living everyday of your life without thinking on what day on the week it is. I can totally relate to your writing, we need to take time to ourselves to relax, and fulfill the good feelings bar. We are letting the bad things and the future concerns blind us to what really matters un life, those priceless moments of joy and happiness to us. Keep it up, theres always a shiny sun willing to come out after every storm.

Everything is feelings and emotions. We can dismiss certain emotions and take on better ones. We just have to become aware and then train our mind/body. Great post, love them as always!

Thank you! It's true, It's so possible to retrain how your mind works it just takes the effort.

Yea for sure. Have a great day! :)

Beautifully written post i try to remain calm even in the baddest time as it challenges the best out of it : )

Very true a lovely post. Time in nature does wonders too on your own with nothing around other the nature. Find a rock a meditate I find this incredible :)

And I try to learn not to worry about those things that are not amenable to my control. But it's so difficult ...

I agree very much about the importance of daydreaming! I came across this quote on a Pantheism page on Facebook sometime ago. I think to a lot, this may be implicitave of mind-altering substances, but it immediately made me think of daydreaming.
