Why You Need To Treat Steemit, Like Your Job!

One thing that hasn't changed since I've been on Steemit...
I see Steemit, Not as my hobby. Not as my social media site.
But this is my job. Steemit is part of my business.
And I encourage you to see it the same way.

It Forces You To Stick With It

Many of us write on here because we love it, And it's no problem. But sometimes it's easy to get writer's block Or to feel flat out lazy. At that point, We don't want to write. Holding yourself accountable, Making it apart from your "Job," your "business" forces you to spend more time on it. It makes you more consistent, Whereas if you treat it more like something below that, Your job or other responsibilities will always be put first. Then you'll have less time for Steemit.

Even When I Had A Job, Steemit was more Important.

I'll never forget that moment when I was in my hot UPS trailer drenched in sweat from working... The boxes were coming down at a slower pace. So I pulled out my phone to check how my Steemit posts were doing. And I was so shocked by how much I had made. That my daily wages at UPS seemed so pathetic. Especially when I had to work over 5 hours for them.
My supervisor came in and said a snarky comment. " We don't pay you, To be on your phone."
I Started laughing.
"You guys hardly pay me at all."
It was empowering to know, That I could end my employment at any given moment. Steemit gave me that power.

Even though I'd come home from work so exhausted. I would still write Steemit posts. I would write them when I woke up, Before work.
If you want to do well on Steemit, You need to make Steemit your priority. I can't imagine the regret some of us will feel When Steemit becomes insanely popular. And the value of all our accounts shoots up. Don't you want to know that you did the absolute best that you could?

Steemit Could End Up Replacing Your Job

Literally! Some people have quit their jobs for Steemit already.
While I don't' recommend this. I believe diversifying is key. Steemit can always become a great back up plan if you were to get laid off or fired.

You Are More Likely To Take It Seriously

When it's your job Or your responsibility. It forces you to take it more seriously. I noticed when I very first started blogging on steemit; I used it as my "hobby." As a result, I would skip a lot of days and not feel guilty. But now it's like my "job." Sometimes when I feel like not posting, I still do.
It's also a great way to build a very strong habit.

The problem with "Side Hustles."

I probably will write a whole post on this, But one thing about jobs, Is when you have one, You have management breathing down your neck to do certain things, You have consequences to actions that you do or don't take.
With side hustles and self-employment, you don't have that. Which can cause you to be lazy?

Treat Steemit like a full or part-time job, and overtime you will do well. Take advantage of it now, Because as the amount of people who sign up grows, It's getting harder and harder to stand out.

I totally agree with you. I really love steemit, I'd really love to be able to have a consistent income on this platform. I love writing and learning new knowledge and insight, and Steemit.com allows me to do both while making money. However, I am still in college and I find it very difficult to manage my time properly to do both Steemit and study for my exams.

You really inspire me do try to achieve more on Steemit! Keep up the great work :D I'll try my best to consider this as a job, so I don't skip post days. Upvoted :)

Would be greatly appreciated if you could provide any kind of feedback on my blogs, whenever you get a chance. It will encourage me to keep doing better and help me on my journey. Thanks!

Regards,
@inspirationalrag

Aww I know how you feel trying to balance college and study for tests! You really just have to do the best you can. Each day is short sadly and we can only do so much.

I can't even imagine how one can manage college and steemit. When I was a student, for me. it was or you study or you do something else. B, for inspiration, college in most cases - waste of time.

Yup I Do and I post daily (when not traveling and even then some)... but I can not even quantify the benefits of this platform.

First it is adding to my new reality in digital assets and corporate structuring. It is giving me greater insights into writing and marketing and it has given me the funding (no risk) to experiment in the Digital Asset arena as the Steem was converted into other cryptos that have exploded in value and in-numerous other business possibilities and efficiencies (as replied to @slynch on this mornings post).

Now an admission, I used this platform for buying other assets, but no longer as I see ahuge horizon just being here and let it fully fund it self and the soon to be SMT's. Yes done correctly, this is a business of support or new. Nice post.

Keep it going and growing (the SMT's should be mind blowing)!

I'm doing the same thing you are with investing in other things. It's a nice way to get a decent amount of money that you don't have to risk too much.

Right? I'm super excited about SMT's. We'll see what happens hehe.

I'm also want to take it as a job.please suggest me,how can I more better in here ? I'm trying but reputation can't rising.your valuable suggestions can help a steemian to grow his reputation. advance thanks both of you

I was thinking about this exact thing. I plan to make it half and half - so I have an income from my general freelance writing work but put a good chunk of the 'work day' to Steemit. That way, I'm in the game if/when Steemit takes off in a big way, but not solely relying on it.

So yes, make it part of your business and be smart making it fit with your schedule and life(style). And for sure, consistency is key.

It will be interesting to see where we all are in a year from now!

I'm also want to take it as a business.please suggest me,how can I more better in here ? I'm trying but reputation can't rising.your valuable suggestions can help a steemian to grow his reputation. advance thanks to you.

Yes - I would love to blog and post to Steemit full time. It is starting to add up.

Right? It totally does!

It is absolutely the best thing I have found on the internet in 17 years ... and I tried many things.

Thats a great advice Kaylin! I definitely want to keep up the effort I put into the posting and connecting in this community, but thinking of it as a job will push me more!

Do it!! Yes Anything thats considered a "Job" will push you more hehe.

100% agree with you, I look at it the same way! Considering it an obligation forces you to stay consistent and we'd all rather do this than a regular soul sucking job so it's worth it, especially at its foundation like this, it's gonna pay off down the line!

Good idea. I'd love to quit my job but it pays pretty well. One day!!

Hopefully :) You can always start saving now.

I already know somebody who is taking Steemit as a job. And it worth it 😉

Not for me yet but will see how things are going.. 😊

I agree with you @kaylinart, steemit is the place to do business, in a few days the price of SBD jumped up :) .

Right? it's been really high lately! Time to buy that Steem with your Steem Dollars LOL

Haha

A few months ago I wrote out a resume to my audience on steemit, providing a list of all the reasons I deserved to have steemit as a full time gig and all the things I was contributing. I got a $25 upvote which I took as "we'll think about it". Maybe I should put together an updated resume and try again!

What a silly and creative way of doing it :)
Just keep posting good stuff and build your following! You'll get there.

I forgot about this goofy little post I did a few days ago, "my steemit work schedule" https://steemit.com/life/@whatamidoing/my-steemit-work-schedule

I often see people give up when they do not see progress . But being motivated and staying to your word and making it happen is how it should be . Nothing comes easy in life

Steemit has empowered so many people, I love it...

I really love steemit, it gives writers the freedom to write what's on their mind and getting paid. Definitely a good platform to start writing if you want to improve and get feedback.

thank you for your tip! I spend over an hour, of ten 2 hours to write each post becuase I do care about steemit a lot like you do :) I hope I can do this as my job one day 😊

Steemit might have worked out for you, but not everyone is as lucky as you are. You see, there are plenty of good writers and content creators who've used steemit, but left or stopped using it because they did not receive any rewards.

I've been on steemit for a month now and I have received almost no reward. However, I just do it because I like it and I take it seriously.

I feel like I still have to find my "dimension" on the platform, I haven't been consistent at all in my 3 months of permanence here

Thats good :) Keep at it! I know consistency can be hard, But the effort adds up.

Thank you! I'm glad that I didn't give up in my early days as a minnow, not that I'm a big fish now lol, but I'm starting to get the right mindset probably:)

Steemit gets easier the longer you stick with it. The last week of high SBD has really changed my opinion on the potential. Months of hovering around one dollar finally broke and it seems to be closer to 2 most times I checked. I think I wish I had more effort into it when it was low because it would be paying off double. Also it's nice to chuckle at people who cashed out and left when they should have stuck it out.

Totally agree... Steemit is my job (and I love it!)

I already have a full time job. Honestly for me steemit is an addictive passion.., but I still need to see it as a hobby. I understand for others is different because they are freelancing, but it is also fine like that :)
Cheers and keep steeming!

great post,excellent writing,,,,,
thanks for the post....

I barely have any experience on steemit yet, but it seems to me that in the future maybe one won't need to stand out so much. I imagine there will be many more people with a sizable amount of steem power than there are now, maybe what we now call whales will look like fish because of their quantity. Maybe in the future one could easily make a good amount in the smallest of niches, just like right now a decent youtube video easily has views in the thousands or tens of thousands even in a tiny niche.

A few days ago I decided to drop anything else and concentrate my self-employment completely on Steemit. And it feels so good and right! Steemit is so much more to me than just a social media platform or a hobby. I can live my passion of writing, have wonderful talks with the lovely community and earn some money while doing what I love. This makes me more happy and grateful than I probably can tell you with words :)
So I totally agree with you dear @kaylinart! :)
Wish you lots of success and fun!

Your post help me to wake up. I'm also want to take it as a part of business. but how can I more better in here ? I'm trying but reputation can't rise. please suggest me.

I totally agree with you. I don't really want another "facebook" type place, but I definitely miss the connections I made online in places like livejournal, so I see steemit being a social place for me like that... BUT mostly as a work place. A place to take my writing seriously, because I've been horrible about putting it off because everything else was more important.

You make some great points!

Thanks Miss @kaylinart, This will be important info/news for my team that are just adopting steem as one of the platforms of sharing information with one other. It just makes scene after watching the CIAbook steal our information for years making Billions in Add revenue and asking us to pay for promoting out social business pages..
Keep up the good work.

I can honestly say I have high hopes for Steemit and am putting In alot of effort :) Great post!

Really good points!!
Over the last year Steemit has got me through when i was waiting for payday many times!

You are so right here. Your attitude is very much inspiring and I see that I have lots to learn from you, and I will do this with joy.

Thank you for sharing this, it's very inspiring, considering this is the level where I'm at that I would like to blog or do journalism for a living, while going to college on weekends, not feeling totally worn out by a day job. I'm just getting started and I look forward to getting to where you're at! Following & resteemed!

This is motivational and interesting ! Amazing work my friend !!
Happy New Year 2018 !
! Wish you all the best !!

You always write good post..i always follow your post..

THank you

turned into considering this actual issue. I plan to make it 1/2 and half of - so i have an earnings from my popular freelance writing work however placed a excellent bite of the 'work day' to Steemit. That manner, i'm in the sport if/while Steemit takes off in a big manner, but not absolutely counting on it.So sure, make it part of your business and be clever making it fit together with your time desk and existence(style). And for positive, consistency is essential.First it's far adding to my new truth in digital property and company structuring. it's far giving me greater insights into writing and marketing and advertising and marketing and it has given me the funding (no threat) to experiment within the virtual Asset vicinity due to the fact the Steem have become transformed into special cryptos which have exploded in fee and in-numerous different industrial employer opportunities and efficiencies (as replied to @slynch on this mornings publish). Now an admission, I used this platform for purchasing specific assets, however not as I see ahuge horizon honestly being proper right here and allow it actually fund it self and the quick to be SMT's. sure done efficaciously, that is a industrial business enterprise of help or new.

I've got an interesting take on this for you. I agree that you should treat Steemit like a real job, and that you get out of it, what you put into it.
But what happens when you put everything you've got into it, and you don't get squat?
I like steemit, it gives me a place to put my writing, where people can read it, and give me what they think I'm worth.
But so far, I'm not seeing it. At my boring 10 hour job, I can't just pull out my cell phone and check my social media or even my steemit. In fact, we aren't allowed to take cell phones inside. But, I make somewhere around 12 dollars an hour, give or take.
Each one of my fiction entries takes around 3 or 4 hours to write, and each one is around 500 words, give or take.
The most I've recieved, on a rare occassion, is 20 dollars. normally, I get around 2 dollars a page, and in the last week, not even that much.
My paycheck over the last 7 days was 8.76. So, that's not even worth the four hours of work that I put into each page of my novel. My boring 10 hour a day job pays more.

What pisses me off is that this platform is becoming just like facebook, twitter, and the rest of the social-less platforms. People with a lot of money are dictating who can get what, and if they don't see any value in your hard work, you don't anything.
Just like big social media, bots have taken this over, and they vote up anything crypto related, but very little else.
I'm glad that you have the following that you've got, and it shows that they like what you post.
I can also see that you've been around a bit longer than I have and have grown your following, and that's great, and I can tell that you are making money at this, which is also great. I'm glad for you.
I'm just not liking what I see. I'm seeing witnesses that don't post, I'm also seeing "investors" that are downvoting posts because they don't like it when someone makes good money on a hard written post that another whale liked.
I've seen great writers driven away because they are called names and downvoted into obscurity, or they start writing "Soundbites" in order to get a few dollars.

I'm one of your followers and always vote for you, because I like what I see. I just don't see how what I'm doing is going to get me $20 a posting. I have limited time, and don't want to degenerate into "soundbite" postings, or posting pictures of cats.
I know this sounds like I'm venting, but I do have concerns, and you did seem like you were inviting a real discussion.
If you weren't, then I apologize for wasting your time.

I think you've pointed out why most people fail. It's too easy to take the lazy way here and there and before you know it the lazy way wins out. There's always tomorrow.

You've provided some wise words here.

Well its harder to stand out. But this post really stood out so much, this is mindboggoling.

That’s what I am planning to do here! Spending most of my day getting involve on this community so I can achieve a good following and be able to put my name out there.

I hope I can achieve that someday!

It's a good advice, to be professional here, and look for persitence and quality! But at the same time I think you have to be as flexible as you can, since the price and posts payout may vary a lot from one to another...

As a writer, it’s always a struggle earning a living from one’s words. This has not been different the first month of Steemit - but I believe it’s worth sticking to and applying oneself. Thanks, for the inspiration 🙏🏼

You are right. The time to shine on steemit is NOW. This post has been deemed resteem & upvote worthy by your friendly @eastcoaststeem ran by @chelsea88 (not a bot)

Wonderful post @kaylinart! I appreciate the inspiration! After treating steemit more like a "job", I have seen my revenue from the platform increase as well as my interest. Its a 360 win!

Well said! If you treat Steemit as your job, it becomes your responsibility to post regularly and interact with others. When you do job, sometimes you have to put your emotion aside, do the work. Whether it's a bad day or good day, you have to go to office, work. Just like that if you think steemit as a job, you will stay active and be consistent.

Thank you so much @kaylinart for sharing this.

Thank you for your feedback @kaylinart.
Very motivating.
Today I had my first reward.
It was a very tiny reward, just a SP increase of 0.004, but hey, it changed my mindset about Steemit: I was paid to write, it can be done!
Then I committed myself to be more consistent, and things can only grow.
