Visiting My Old University After Leaving CHINA!

in life •  6 years ago

Hello Steem Blockchain!

As some of you might know, I have returned back to Canada temporarily.

One thing that I have been meaning to do is visit my university campus again and see how things have changed. I went to the University of Toronto to study Mechanical Engineering.

Lots of memories...

University College: Reminds me of Harry Potter

This is one of, if not, the top ranked university on Canada. I am proud that I was able to excel academically to the point where I could study at this prestigious university. I worked very hard for it and even though many people brag about slacking off in high school, I was someone that had to work hard to get the marks needed to be admitted into this school.

Examination Center

Oh boy. This is where I took several of my exams. Some of them ranging to relatively easy, and others being soul-killing...

Bahen Center Lecture Hall

This is one of the more modern buildings on campus. I liked being in the lecture halls in these buildings because they were cleaner and more modern. A lot of the architecture in the engineering buildings is dated so it was a nice change to have to be in a room that feels more cozy as opposed to rugged.

A funny story: During my first year computer programming course, someone sitting in the front row opened his laptop during our last lecture of the year and started playing porn on mute for the duration of the lecture! Hahaha!

Since the screen was facing the students, the professor had no idea what was going on and everyone was subtle enough to not make him think we were up to something.

Robarts Library

This is one of the most famous libraries on campus. Either you love it or hate it. As you may be able to see, the building is shaped like a rooster. It might be one of the coolest or ugliest buildings you have ever seen!

I never actually spent a lot of time in here. There is another library in one of our engineering buildings that is much closer and is full of familiar faces. This one is mostly for the Arts students (or Artsys as we engineers like to call them lol).

Sandform Fleming Cafeteria

This is the melting pot for all engineering students. If there is a student-run event or people just wanna hang out, chances are this is the place to be. The campus has a building for each faculty of engineering so the people in each building will be mostly from that faculty. This building is the exception because it is basically the engineering hangout.

I was part of the class of 2012. We are referred to as "1T2". The T represents "Toronto" I think and the 1 and 2 are the last 2 digits of 2012. I actually graduated in 2013 because I took a full year internship in between my 3rd and 4th year.

Each year can showcase their artistic ability by painting a picture on the wall to represent their class. Since I am part of the class of 1T2, mine is the one with Spider-Man on it.

Convocation Hall

This is the hall where every UofT student graduates from. I wasn't able to get a shot from inside because the door were locked but here is a photo I found online:

Since this place was so big, it was also used for some lectures that had large class sizes. I remember studying Sociology in this place and loved it because there were so many hotties I could meet. It was easy to meet people here and chat with them and because the place was so big, you probably wouldn't cause a scene by talking to someone.

That pretty much wraps this post up. I really enjoyed shooting photos and videos here just to reminisce about the good ol' times I had studying here. Don't get me wrong, there were some really bad times too, but I kind of miss the student life. I like being in this kind of atmosphere where you are around a bunch of people (and hotties!) that you can easily strike up a conversation with.

Thanks for reading & watching!
