I saw some of spin-off videos. You know, the ones where they chop up your video and make a comedy piece. I enjoyed those. Came here to get the full context.

Sometimes I think many here (Steemit, Dtube, wherever) get too caught up in their public figure personas. Always so perfect for the camera or the comment section, which is normal in the entertainment industry. Maybe some forget it's not real. They become their characters. Shiny, perfect, say the right thing. Not all, but it happens. The world wants to be protected these days. Certain forms of honesty are now misinterpreted as bullying. People don't like to be told they're not perfect. It's a tough pill to swallow.

I tried experimenting with D-Tube in the past and found it completely unreliable. Not to mention that brand awareness of the platform is non-existent; it has no chance of ever replacing mainstream services while it continues to be unreliable and still lacks a userbase, applications for other devices and so on. Maybe I’m missing the point to an extent, but that’s my feelings on the subject. While I may hope that DTube can come good one day, there is still a lot of work to be done.
Most services based on Steemit won’t have a real future if they can only appeal to a few crypto-nerds with excessive amounts of faith in the platform; especially those that are probably unemployable in the outside world. It needs to challenge Twitter, Facebook and YouTube head on; otherwise it will just become an incestuous little ‘community’ that offers no value for anybody.
I also believe that many people don’t ever read content or watch videos, they just want to be rewarded a share of the upvote payouts or get an upvote themselves. Many people were definitely gaming Steemit for the sake of even smaller amounts than you mentioned; especially third world users that plagiarised content on a regular basis.
Anyway, I’m pleased to see that you would dare to voice your true views on the matter, unlike many others that seem to only ever praise everything on Steemit for fear of reprisals. I'm quite astonished how civilized everyone has been, even though not everyone agrees with everything you say, it sure has generated some food for thought about the motivation behind creating content.
I've stopped posting to dtube and dlive. I use IPFS to host my content as I did before I joined steemit, its more stable, and far less likely to be manipulated in some way.
I totally understand if you've had it with this platform, it can be a total waste of time, more often than not, even just from a purely technical perspective, many old posts are broken, with no way to fix them.

Hahahha, That was a fun video to watch and the things you mentioned are a lot of what I see wrong with the STEEM ecosystem. It becomes this fake content platform. Like the whole "blogging for money" thing almost becomes bait for people to buy power and since their aren't other revenue sources feeding the ecosystem it will continue to exist but I don't think it will ever thrive and 95% of it isn't actually about content.
I understand your frustrations about it 100% and I have struggled with being a content creator for a long time. Sometimes I don't feel my stuff is post worthy but in a lot of respects it is better than the alternative.
In the end I have been where you are at. And it has been when I have too much time and energy invested in the platform and I feel like I haven't gotten anything in return. That is a reason why I have never been able to go a lot deeper financially into this platform. It can take your money and devalues your time so it ends up being a double whammy.
The other people are trying to put on a smile and play the game which I'm sure they oftentimes don't see it as rewarding either but they would rather do that then go to some shitty job basically.

I had a funny idea for a post and kind of a joke about the whole platform. I was thinking of doing blank posts, I think I'd be forced to write something like a period like "." but basically the idea being hey guys, let's skip all the nonsense and the busy work. That's awesome. One thing that I think is cool about whaleshares and weku and that thing your talking about and smoke is that now steemit has some competition. Like I said I don't really dig under the hood or pay too much attention to whats going on with the developers and stuff but from my limited insight and from hearing people smarter than me talk it sounds like the developers are kind of half assing growing this platform. Comparing YouTube and DTube - I still use YouTube a lot more. There's more content and it's more intuitive with auto playlists and recommendations. Another thing that has kept me off DTube has been the loading time. Sometimes DTube videos just wouldn't load at all for me.
With that said, your video loaded today no problem so maybe I'll have to start giving it another chance.

Whatever happened to simply commenting on things that people like and care about? Does YouTube have a problem with engagement? I agree and disagree at the same time. I still think that YouTube is a better platform for uploading videos. I think dtube is for networking. This is an interesting point that I often bring up. Steemit is essentially a networking platform yet its setup as a Medium/Vimeo setup. The platform is setup for content creation yet not at all about content. I like Steemit but it is more playing the game than it is a place I come to consume content in the same way I do on Youtube or Reddit, I come to play the game, make a witty comment, tell someone great post. I do occasionally see some good content on here and I have a lot of friends on this platformI like but its a networking platform with no groups, no messaging, and really not at all setup for networking lol.

Interesting point about playing the game. I used to come to Steemit and I would browse through the "New" posts and try to find good content or people to follow. Slowly, I would see more and more accounts "greyed out" or with bad reputations. Nearly every page actually. A lot of posts would be low effort or copied/pasted content.
This kind of made me lose interest and now I just support those I follow and I don't really try to branch out and find new content. It's just too difficult to sift through. It's a shame really.

I think the cure to all this fake circle jerking is to acquire ample amounts of Steem Power. When you are a peasant on this platform, you are kissing ass and saying shit to try and get an upvote. He just makes amateur vlogs but I actually like to watch them. Every time he posts a video, I watch it without feeling like I wasted my time. Sometimes you just need that "it" factor. It's not necessarily about your camera gear, production quality, etc. Some people talk in a way that is genuine and makes you want to listen. Other people just sound like nails on a chalkboard with bullshit ejecting from their mouth, even if their production quality looks good.

It needed to be said and to be fair it was going to come out one way or the other. I am also tired of seeing people just pushing out content for the sake of just earning upvotes. There is no real engagement over here and it's honestly crippling this platform.

This truth is indeed hard to swallow and I have have few response to what you shared. whether a video is boring or not I think is up to people's discretion. You may not like certain style but others may like. Vice versa.

Sitting over my film for a few hours twists small stories and I have it all from Dtube? 0$ . I walk with my gimbal and phone in the night, I am looking for music, editing and what? 0$. I listened to your video all the way through, I can't say I disagree with a lot of stuff, you are brutally honest for sure, I am like you, I spend a grip of time doing my videos and try like hell to make them interesting. Yeah forsure, ive not found anyone that I actually enjoy watching. Which made me stop trying to be creative because random talking heads about nothing would get upvotes when im working all hours of the night trying to create something thats funny, entertaining..
