Your introduction guide into the Crypto World Part 2 - Teil 2

Welcome to part 2!

Between the two promised topics "Where is money going?" and "Crypto Currencies", i will touch on two words - "centralized" and "decentralized".
In Part 3 i will touch on "what a Blockchain is?" and "how cryptocurrencies are based on blockchain technology".

Where is money going?

As history taught us about money so far, money is always going to be swapped for something that fulfills the 3 keyfunctions (touched on in Part 1) more efficiently. For example since the millenium, money is being more and more digitalized i.e. if you have an online payment account such as paypal with 100€ balance on it and you want to buy a product which costs 50€, you simply type in 50€, on the other hand if you buy that product personally and you just have a 100€ bank note with you, you either have to change that banknote into two 50€ banknotes or ask the seller for change. This shows that online purchases are more efficient in regards of time and safety.

Centralized

Everything that is controlled by a single party (i.e. Government, central bank (the Fed)), is centralized.

If you have read Part 1, you already know that Fiat-money was the 1st ever centralized money, because it was under control of the central banks (the Fed) of every government.

Decentralized

Nobody has full control over the money. You as an individual have control over your own money but not over someone elses money.

A decentralized system is:

• open for everyone to join
• accessable 24/7
• really hard to hack

Here comes the connection to crypto currencies into play.

Crypto Currencies

As previously mentioned people are looking for a more efficient alternative to their current money system. In 2008 the world economic crisis hit us, which was perfect evidence that our current system has quite a few lacks. Centralization and lack of transparency were key problems. In that very year, blueprints of a revolutionary idea had appeared on the internet (https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf). It's an eight paper sheet which gives you an idea about how to solve the problems which mentioned above during the world economic crisis. The first decentralized and digital currency, bitcoin was born. In the early beginnings of bitcoin it was primarly used in the Dark-Web. It's reputation has therefore suffered a lot. In the last few years people discovered it's real potential and the possibilities that the whole blockchain technology offers.

• It's transparent
• open for everyone to join
• decentraliced
• smart contracts
• fast transactions
• little to no transaction-fees
• safety -> way harder to hack and/or to commit theft since the money is spread across the world

Willkommen zu Teil 2!

Zwischen den beiden versprochenen Themen "Wohin geht Geld?" und "Kryptowährungen", werde ich kurz zwei wichtige Wörter ansprechen - "zentralisiert" und "dezentralisiert".
In Teil 3 werden wir uns mit "was eine Blockchain ist?" und "wie Kryptowährungen auf Blockchaintechnologie basieren" befassen.

Wohin geht Geld?

Wie die Geschichte uns bis jetzt gezeigt hat, wird Geld immer gegen etwas was die 3 Schlüsselfunktionen (in Teil 1 erläutert) besser erfüllt, ausgetauscht werden. Zum Beispiel wird seit der Jahrtausendwende das Geld immer mehr und mehr digitalisiert, z.b. wenn du ein Online Zahlungskonto, wie z.b. Paypal mit einem Stand (oder Bilanz) von 100€ hast und du dir ein Produkt um 50€ kaufen willst, dann ist es einfacher die Zahl 50 in das dazugehörige Feld zu tippen als wenn du persönlich vor Ort zuerst den 100€ Schein wechseln oder den Verkäufer um Wechselgeld bitten musst. Dies zeigt uns, dass Onlinekäufe in Betracht ihrer Effiziens und Sicherheit besser sind.

zentralisiert

Alles was von einer einzigen zentralen Partei (z.b. Regierung, Zentralbank) kontrolliert wird, ist zentralisiert.

Wer Teil 1 gelesen hat, weiß schon das Fiat-Geld unser erstes zentralisiertes Geld ist, weil es von den Zentralbanken jeder Regierung kontrolliert wird.

dezentralisiert

Niemand hat volle Kontrolle über das Geld. Du als Individium hast die Kontrolle über dein eigenes Geld und nicht über das von jemand anderem.

ein dezentralisiertes System ist:

• offen für jeden sich anzuschließen
• 24/7 zugänglich und erreichbar
• sehr schwierig zu hacken

Hier kommt die Verbindung zu Kryptowährungen ins Spiel.

Kryptowährungen

Wie schon erwähnt suchen Menschen nach einer effizienteren Alternative zum jetzigen Geldsystem. 2008 traff uns die Weltwirtschaftskrise schwer, sie war ein perfekter Beweis für die Schwachstellen des jetzigen Geldsystems. Zentralisation und mangel an Transparenz waren Schlüsselprobleme. In diesem Jahr erschien ein Entwurf im Internet über eine revolutionäre Idee (https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf). Es handelt sich um ein 8-seitiges Dokument welches uns eine Idee darüber gibt wie die Probleme, die während der Weltwirtschaftskrise aufgetreten sind, zu lösen wären. Die erste dezentralisierte und digitale Währung, Bitcoin war geboren. Anfangs wurde Bitcoin hauptsächlich im Dark-web eingesetzt und benutzt und der Ruf leidete dadurch sehr. In den letzten Jahren entdeckten die Menschen mehr und mehr welches Potenzial Bitcoin hat und welche Möglichkeiten es uns aufgrund der ganzen Blockchaintechnologie bietet.

• schnelle Transaktionen
• wenig bis garkeine Transaktionsgebühren
• Sicherheit -> schwieriger zu knacken und zu stehlen da das Geld auf der ganzen Welt verteilt ist
