Hope
Hi, my name is Jeff Calixte. Ok, I’m not the most spiritual guy in the world, but I do know what faith, love, and hope can do in someone’s life, and I’m pretty sure you do too. If you don’t, I will explain to you what faith, love, and hope can do for you. When I’m done, you can decide if you need these three things in your life or not.
First of all, if you don’t have hope, you are pretty much dead. Yes, that’s right. If you have no hope, you are pretty much dead. So, let’s take a look at what hope is and why you need it in your life for you to feel alive.
Here’s an example: My mom left Haiti with nothing to eat, no one to help her, and she took us on a boat that nearly killed all four of us so she could make it to the United States. Why do you think she did that? The reason is because she had hope that things were going to get better, only if she could make it to the US. Now, she took action knowing that she could have died. People can only take such a risk if their hopes are bigger than their fears.
Most people who traveled that way did die and get eaten by sharks before making it to US. Some of them got arrested and sent back to their country where they got beaten, or even tortured, by the same authorities they were trying to flee from. That alone is enough to have someone never take action or ever dare to try to flee their country.
It’s a pretty scary thing to do knowing all the facts. I asked myself over and over again, why did she do that? My little brother was only one-year-old at the time, and none of us could swim. Even if we could swim, nothing could have saved us other than a miracle from God if anything were to happen to that little water boat.
After analyzing the situation we were in for years, I can finally see why my mom would do such a thing. The answer again was hope. Hope that a better life was on the way; a better life was coming. And she was right. Because if she never took that risk, you would not be reading this book right now, and lots of the things her kids have had the opportunity to do would never have happened—so I thank her.
Later, I figured out that my mother and I share similar personalities. I’m always hopeful no matter how bad things seem to get. I’m never without hope. I always know, through my vision, life will get better, and as a result, it always does. Even when I face hard times, the future always seems to shine brighter. And with a little bit of scary action, I always make it to the other side. When I think of all the things that we have accomplished because of hope, faith, fear, and actions, I realize one can train his or her self to become fearless. We all were built to hope, and we all were built to dream and set goals, but sometimes we let fear of failure stop us from trying to make it to the other side.
Without hope, you are pretty much dead, and it can be depressing. How do you fix that and become more hopeful? You have to try harder and you need to have faith it will happen for you. If you work like you’re supposed to work on your dreams and aspirations— every day of every year, every hour of every day, and every second of every minute—, you will become more hopeful that sometime, somewhere, or someday, your life will be better and greater than it is now; your life will become like you always dreamed. That is hope. You already have it within you, you just need to apply faith and action without fear, and let go of what’s holding you back, so you can fly to your destiny.
You should be planning your way out; the only way to get there is through hope, faith, action, and determination without fear. Was my mom scared that we all might die on that boat? Yes, but she didn’t let her fears stop her. Because it was the idea of death that scared her the most. She could have gotten killed anyway for staying in Haiti during that time, while those men went after my father for whatever reason. Through it all, times were hard, but at the end of it all, my mom was right about making it to the US (now Canada). Because she was hopeful, it paid off big time. See, you can either accept life the way it is, or you can work hard and take risky actions, while you let hope guide you to a better lifestyle.
Who said it was going to be easy and not scary to hope there is a better life somewhere out there? Sometimes it takes the willingness to die for things to really change. People who are not afraid to die are those who will work hard and take action without fear to stop them, so their dreams can come true. Our greatest fears are death, pain, and suffering. As long as you’re willing to be comfortable—and impress people while you at it— you will never succeed. If you want your life to be easy, it will not be better, and if you want your life to better, it will not be easy.
In life, it’s not about impressing others, it’s about impressing yourself. Other people may be impressed, but are you? The truth is within. In order to impress yourself, it’s going to be harder than you think. You have to let go of the outside world and focus on the inner you; face your reality. You have to make a real change in your mindset; how you think of life is your reality; if you don’t like it, fix it.
You are the only one with the power to change your situation. In order to do that, you must understand the possibilities of death, while making a real change for the better in your life and in the lives of those around you. Hope is not fearful. Hope is life, as pain and death are a part of life. If hope is not life itself, then it is pretty damn close. You already can never skip pain or death, so if life is going to be hard anyway, why not make it hard for a better reason than to stay hungry; a better reason than just take it as it is?
Even after you can earn everything on this planet, what else is left? You have nothing if you don’t have the hope of a better life, somehow, somewhere, or one day. The only thing that’s here to make a difference and give all of us a better future is hope.
Even though billionaires are supposed to have hope so that they can become better, poor people desperately need hope more than anything else. Even the person on his or her death bed is supposed to have hope. If they truly want to enjoy their last day on earth smiling, they better create a faithful hope: Hoping that the life after death will be better than the life they lived on earth. A dying person without hope is already dead, and will spend their last days on earth depressed if they see no future of a better life than the life they are currently dying from.
You see, hope isn’t just a part of life, it is life. Hope is what makes us want to live. If you don’t have the hope of a better life, then you will simply not want to live. It’s simple: all you have to do is work for what you want and have faith that it will happen. Do everything in your power to see it come true. Start your mission impossible today. Don’t give up, unless giving up means you’re finding something else that can change your life faster and for the better.
Hope is part of what make you want to be alive. Hope can be made up of things and places you absolutely have to get to before you die, or after you die. Hope just never stops. Either way, hope is for the living. You have those who are scared of death, and it’s because they have no hope of a better life after death. And if you are working for it and believing in it, and have faith it will happen for you. You will feel alive.
For people who fear they might die before their dreams comes true, think about this: how many heroes have died before their dreams came true? More than one, I bet. You see, because they had a dream—because of the hope of changing their lives or other’s lives—they were not afraid to die. They knew some way; somehow, they would live a better life, even if they died, because they believed God would have mercy on their soul. With hope of life even after life, you are literally unstoppable. If our heroes never had hoped and took life-changing opportunities, they couldn’t—and wouldn’t—have fought so hard.
In hope of a better life, you also need to understand that better does not mean easier. You will get up, even when you feel like you can’t. Your heart will be filled with fear, love, hope, and joy, while you work to make your dreams come true in the hope that your life will be better one day.
You see, if you ever want fans or followers, you need a vision. When you can help other people dream and hope, they will love you forever because with dreams and hope, you can ease their pain.
Hope is not selfish; one can help a million people hope and fight for the same goals. And because a vision is powerful enough to create hope, others will follow you. Because when they follow you, their dreams will also come true.
