Words, why do some people really fall for others’ words and not their actions, while others fall for the actions and not words. Why do we give words so much of power? Why do we let whatever others tell us affect us at such deep level? Why can’t words be just words without attachment, feelings and emotions. Why are we taught to feel the words? Why does the words “I love you” bring about a positive emotion and the words “get out” bring about negative emotion? Who gives those words a positive or negative emotion? It is us, isn’t it. It is YOU, who gives it the emotion. What happens when you do not give it a emotion and let the words be just words? What happens when we realise that those are words that display the other feelings and it has nothing to do with us. Why do we take those words personally? And what happens when we stop taking it personally? Would that mean that we would not understand the other? Would the other think that we do not care about their feelings? Or would we in fact understand the other better? What exactly happens?
As I am writing all of these, I am learning at the same time. I do not really think about what I want to write, I just write whatever comes to my mind. And as I am writing now there are so many thoughts going in and out of my mind but one seem to stay; we tend to understand the world and others better when we do not get attached to the words of others. Lets see if this make sense. Person A tells person B something nasty. Now, if person B takes it personally, his/her thinking would be clouded. Clouded in a sense that person B would not be able to think from person A’s perceptive. Person B would be caught in his/her own feelings and emotions. In that emotional state Person B may not understand person A and would not truly reflect on his/her own actions.
However, if person B does not attach any feeling and emotion to those words, wouldn't person B be able to think with an open mind as to why did person A say such and really sit down and reflect on his/her own actions? Without that attachment wouldn’t we be able to think more openly? We would realize things that we may have never thought of. So why then should we be attached to those words with our emotions? Words are just words till we give them some power right? Why is it so difficult to leave them as just words. Well, that is coz the damn mind is wired into giving them power and when you go against it, it creates havoc.
I feel and think it is best to not have emotions attached to those words. Yes, saying is so much more easier than doing. However, practice makes it perfect. You can rewire your brain anytime you want. All you need to do is be aware of it and make a conscious effort into rewiring and eventually you will get there. Well, I guess the purpose of this post is for me (and maybe for you too) to be aware that we have been giving too much power to the words of others. At least that is true for me and damn, it is painful when I believe them and it happens the otherwise. I guess the lesson for me here is to take that power back slowly and rewire the damn brain. It is time to put it into action slowly and steadily.
Have a great day/night humans!
